advantages are simple as tidal flow gets stronger you can simply change sinker to suit conditions ie. spoon to a heavier type or snapper lead
not real advantage from round to ezy rig which i use spoons on other than my bait does not roll with currents
but sometimes this can go against you round sinker rolls into the gutter were fish may be hiding
i have always used the plastic outer casing of my old extension leads you know the colored part red, black, green as it is soft and prevents the ezy rig from beating on your knot assuming thats why he mentioned it
congratulations mate was it on the rod you were selling if it was i bet your keeping it now
or what outfit did you catch it on
did get a photo of it as a keep sake she was your first but wont be your last:biggrin2:
well i thought it would be a good time to get some new gear and spoil myself at the same time
first up are u.s import uglystick tigers got 2 of them one as a spare and one to use of course and got an ozzie uglystick platinum 6-10 kg to play with while they were sent in the post
then i picked two live liners for 300 beans i was stoked and i decided i would pick up a cheap overhead to see if i could cast it well
tried for about 30mins then gave up wasn't to bad at casting it i just could not cast far at all about 7metres
i managed to get plenty of pings ie line breaks on 20lb while trying to cast
i doubt its a baitcaster any how
also i was casting on an O/H rod not on the uglystiks spin rods posted here
now just got to catch a jew to to get a nice bend in the rods
the old set a forget bait runners well not really
ps dont worry about the the line on the spools
its good to hear you finally got your boat and that you had a great outing despite nil fish caught
best of luck for next time you'll Cristen the boat for sure
hey clem seems we have something in common we dont catch fish but always try too
maybe we should fish together one day and see who bait stays on the hook the longest
went to clarkes point to day 9.30am to 1130 just to see my original baits still on the hooks when i packed up
only saw one fish caught while i was there a small bream
could it be the moon phase ?
my baits were prawn and dead poddies
we tried sat morn to the arvo
tried the common places
managed 2 tailor and bream plus 3 bust offs
my friends said it was quiet how right they were seems theirs a few posts around
but it was a good day out even for me as i caught zero
"""Hi bass_beginner
Might help if you tell us what you are planning to catch with this gear & lures
Cheers John"""
ill assume its a bream stick
for me reel wise its a 1000 stradic c14 much lighter and cheaper to boot than a twinpower but no spare spool
and a pflueger supreme they have a couple of sticks in 1-3kg range
total should be close to 650
thats my opinion any how
