  1. if anything the needle roller bearing should be oiled with bearing oil some people use bushing oil instead hope that helps mick
  2. nice way to spend a few hours can i ask how much meat is on a shark that size are you sharing it friends does the flesh freeze well also are you letting the bait be your weight ie. no sinker to your bait and let it roll in the waves or is it weighted to the sea floor sorry for picking your brain but if you dont ask you'll never know cheers mick
  3. great consolation prize that's a fantastic catch in anyone's language mick
  4. jeez that looks painful hope you took the fish home if it was size i myself try to get the hooks out all the time but sometimes you are likely to kill the fish in the process a company should create small version of long side cutters just to cut the hook of jig heads in the gill area then again a fish de-hooker could get a hook thats deep but safe to remove cheers mick
  5. congrats nathan and fisher doi even though the fish were in hiding you had a trouble free day with effort comes the payoff a good fish in the bag well done fellas cheers mick
  6. yeh the line roller on saltist the bearing /bushing is just plastic they should have had the decency to install a ball bearing for the price that they go for the one extra bearing would cost to diawa what about a $2 installed really disappointed when i opened it up also i was casting 80 grams too the line had got caught on the guides now and again but im tieing a slim beauty on the leader which is small i will take on board all comments and preventative measures and look at that video thanks fellas cheers mick

  9. hey raiders well on my past few outings of tossing lures off the stones one of which was today wind was blowing quite a bit i got an air knot the braid is rovex varios braid its not stiff like some other braids but i get an air knot at least once an outing todays was about 15 metres from the leader the rod is a penn big game surf 10 footer , reel is saltist 4500 i doubt its the rod or reel unless the line is not rifling though the guides correctly as the rod has 6 guides including the tip im thinking its could be the braid but its brand new its 30lb by the way im seriously thinking of trying a high end mono line also i use a slim beauty as my leader knot any thought raiders cheers mick

  19. hay raiders i had been doing some work in morisset close to lake macquarie and had been fishing dora creek mouth for bream and others species caught alot of under size fish and one legal bream lived to fight an other day any how decided to fish swansea on thursday the 25th with just lures for tailor and here is the result was fun spinning but better when hooked the tarwhine it when 37cms and weighted a little over a kilo i managed to get my catch bag caught i a rock crevice which led me run down the breakwall to the bushes to find a large curved stick took me a good 20 mins to get the fish and catch bag out but its was well worth it spoke to a few locals one particular fello targets jew for sport only his best was 27kg but has seen a 40kg caught he fishes for them 6 days a week i was goob smaked we had a good yarn great fella he was using live trevally as bait as yakkas were hard to come by and scored a blackie too i let the blackie go but kept the tarwhine which smashed my pb by over 15 cms woohoo and a first on both counts for the tarwhine and blackie on lure i tried swansea bridge at 7am after i left the breakwall with poppers first cast 3 to 5 metres away see a large swirl cast close to same area but the fist cast must have spooked it the fish was gone through poppers for about 20mins and gave up any that was my arvo at swansea cheers mick
