Hi all

Firstly, I fairly new to this forum, so I hope that I'm doing it right. Great reading as it is based more on up in the Sydney areas, which is always nice to read whats happening in your own backyard.

I'm headed to Townsville for a day, and wondering if anybody that reads this has fished or knows any decent spot or wharf that we could fish off? Maybe even a sports fishing charter. Contacted one but no reply as yet. Even considered fishing in one of those barra farms.

you can chase barra in the Ross river and there's only freshwater crocs there so you won't get eaten

Used to be a guy from up there that posted on here fairly regularly but I can't remember his name as Donna said to a search on townsville.

I would not bet my left n@t that there is only freshies up the river. lived up there for 5 years and saw quite a few around the different creeks and streams.

You could try the rock pool outer walls late afternoon for barra, grunter and salmon as well as the occasional snubby Plus catties up to 10kg LOL. Also the breakwall at the casino is worth a shot as well. Ring Pro Tackle and speak to either Peter Hazard or Eddie Riddle and tell them Nathan sent you and ask them for the better charters around townsville. u Bueat Barra charters is a good call, but i think he has gone to hinchinbrook now, not too sure.
