Nz Fishing

This 8.5 kg red was the catch of the day - much to my boyfriends dissapointment.

Within 1/2 an hour we had more than enough fish so started throwing them back.

Was a great day - now back in Sydney catching 35cm snapper...

Excellent reds there Mace! The kiwis often use those salmon (kahwai) as live bait for massive kings and snapper.

Lovely reddie, Mace! Looks like a true "old man" snapper. I too have seen kahawai used as live baits for kings and reds - here's a clip:

No problems - that whole site is awesome - marlin on handline, mega marlin after being sharked, crazy bluefin tuna action etc...

There is some great fishing in NZ - where did you get them - around Auckland or elsewhere?? I used to do more freshwater (trout) fishing when I lived there, but got the odd reddie when visiting our holiday spot on the Coromandel!

Thanks for your email. I am from NZ but have lived here in Sydney for aabout four years now. That fish was caught in the Bay of Islands at the Hole in the Rock. Very envious about your holiday home at the Coromandel. I love the East Coast!
