tricks Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 i have the olympus 720sw great camera easy to use tho not real happy with the zoom. have filmed under water while snorkling and was pretty impressed with picture. cheers patrick
Dan A Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 (edited) I am ordering a Pentax Optio W30, they are a bit cheaper than the Olympus MJUs and from the reviews seem a little better. check out http://www.dpreview.com Dan Edited June 23, 2007 by Dan A
newatthegame Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 My flatmate has the Olympus and we haven't had any complaints. We have taken it under water and also to the snow. Its also shockproof which is a bonus when it is inside the boat getting bashed around. Randall
Blackfish Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Have heard very good good reports on the Fujitsu F30 in its housing for underwater photos and Video. http://flickr.com/cameras/fujifilm/finepix_f30/ http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf30/ http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/fuji/finepix_f30-review/ For the housing http://cameras.pricegrabber.com/underwater...ngs/m/22720929/ As for the 770 http://flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=770S...ater&m=text Try also http://www.dpreview.com/ I've got a old Sony Cybershot and have taken some great photos with that and found the camera outperforms me . I've got a housing with this and some of the underwater stuff i've taken is surprisingly good, there's better Cameras now. Good luck, B.F.
hooked Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Hi Roberta, I have the olympus and can't say enough good things about it. With it being shockproof you dont have to worry about it being bashed around and the underwater stuff on it is great..... Takes great shots Josh
GregH Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 My friend has the Olympus Waterproof Camera and we took some great shots of the kids in our pool both above & under the water. Because it is shockproof we were throwing this camera around in the pool - no problem. The only disadvantage is the zoom is not really powerful, however for the purpose it was great. I already have a pretty good camera so I can't really justify to but another camera right now. But if they improve the zoom, I'll be buying one for sure !!!! Lesley
arpie Posted June 24, 2007 Author Posted June 24, 2007 Thanks for that guys I will just have to make a decision!!! AAAAAAAAGH! I hate making decisions! Cheerio Roberta
TheDiko Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 I have the Olympus and love it. Still to try it underwater while fishing or snorkelling due to the weather But it has loads of cool features and different settings, all you could want. Havn't dropped it yet and don't intend to but when I do I know it's safe IFS
arpie Posted June 24, 2007 Author Posted June 24, 2007 I'll probably go for the Pentax W30 - already got the card for it (from my 'ex' Optio) and won't cry so much when something does go wrong with it!! Cheerio Roberta PS Keep the info coming, tho, not getting it yet ....

Its a pain having to wait for the camera, they aer not yet on the shelves, Mid July they are expected, so still some time to make your decision.
