Hi Everyone ,

Well with the Kingfish being a little quiet a quick trip to New Zealand was made to catch a few , only problem was the Wind... We did manage to fish 2 days in 30 knot winds as the other days were 70 knots and the worst storms to hit New Zealand in 50 years ... :ranting2: Overall cosidering the weather we did manage some decent fish all released and all on jigs, hopefully the weather cant be as bad next year ...

Woah!, Monster kings. Guess that's to be expected of NZ... :) Is that a Shimano Stella, I spot there.. ?

Cheers,

Cartman :)

Yeah mate all eggbeaters were stellas only reel to use...

WOW :1yikes: nice overalls i mean kings :074: ahaha spewn about the weather only 60 more days till i get over there!! cant wait!

The overalls mean wet weather pants were needed ... Plus they were easy to wash ....

Nice job Dogtooth,

Those NZ kings can put a serious bend in those jig sticks :biggrin2:

Mate the rod i was using is rated to deadlift 26kg , it was still bending . .....

Cant wait to get stuck into a few

Will send you a Pm

Thats awesome! Where abouts where you in nz?

Fished the north island in a little place called tairua

great work dogtooth.

Out of interest did you try livies or just stick to the jigs?

Only used jigs would have possibly caught bigger fish on livies but jigging was our main objective...

Maybe in a decade or so the harbour might reside some hoodlems like that!! I hope :biggrin2:

I don't think so, there are kings there up to 40kg, 20 kg kings are very common.

Minimum legal size for kings in NZ is 75cm, measured form tip of the nose to the V on the tail, around the 85 cm by our measuring standards.
