No hairtail - no fish report!

So here we are sitting in the cold - no raiders on the radio and no fish!

I can't believe people have been catching them! JB is a parking lot so is waratah.

Were have they gone?

The eternal fishing question arises - to move or to persist?

Hey guys they are out there Friday night i got 23 in the boat and lost plenty more, you just have to move around until you find them no longer than half hour in each spot until you locate them. cheers Howly

Ok, so that's the plan for next time.

Sit there for 30 mins and follow the first boat that moves! It'll look like a conga line, 25 boats all playing follow the leader! :D

We moved a couple of times & even drifted down to the front of JB, but when the fog started to come down, I figured its was time to start heading back as I didnt fancy finding my way down the creek by brail !! - Done that too many times before & it's very slow!

As it turned out, we were not quick enough & had to take a bearing off the chart to get us to cottage point. From there to Watatah Bay it was patchy & we decided that as Waratah is only a 20 minute crawl down the edge of the creek in a pea souper, from the ramp, we thought we should persist.

Whilst Waratah was lit up like crown casino, we didnt win there either - so back home empty handed AGAIN!! bugger.

Came across an unfortunate bloke with a flat tyre on his trailer - we couldnt help him (I was also not smart enought to have my spare tyre with me!) - bit of a bummer at 3.00am in the morning - he apparently caught nothing for his trouble either - hope he got it sorted.

We managed 6 last night at WB and dropped about the same number once we got too cocky.

It was our first crack at them so we were pretty happy considering a lot of boats have been going home with a cold bum and no fish.

One thing we did different from the crowd was berley hard. As soon as the berley stop the fish stopped.

We also varied our technique. Leaving the bait just swinging in the breeze didn't seem to do it. We had to be on the one rod the whole time feeling the bites and varying the depth to find them.

A couple of old-salts told us they have been on the feed for about a 3-4hr period and after that period that have been pulling the pin.

Just finished cooking all of them up and the flesh is nice but they are full of bones :(. What is the best way to get rid of these bones and enjoy a nice feed of fish?

yeah boys, we were there in JB on sat night as well. Pretty much same story. After a great weekend last week, we only pulled in 2 and lost about 4.

Seems like they're just nosing the baits and not really hitting them, so you've really gotta work to hook them.

Hi all, I was one of the 36 or so boats out there on sat night only managed four fish two keepers 1200 barely, the only thing i noticed different from the week before was the number of small baitfish around they were in plague proportion.the week earlier there was not one to be seen, i am wondering if it had any thing to do with the lack of hairtail.I was born and bred on the hawkesbury river and have not seen 26 fish come out j bay in the last 40 years, if you could pick up 2 or 3 you had a good night . Cheers Laurie
