Boat upgrade

Hi raiders,

After read many post about how to install false floors in a tinny I finally decided to give it a go!

I used 12mm marine ply and 3mm 25mm x 25mm aluminium, a lot of people suggested welding the alum.

I'm not the best at welding especially aluminium so I just riveted it.

All up it cost about $180 but allows more storage space and a casting deck.

Next mod is to carpet the seat add a few chairs from BCF, a bait board, a few rod holders and maybe a coat of paint.

If anyone has any tips on painting that would be awesome!

Hi mate,

I was a spraypainter and panel beater by trade for 15 years working with euro prestige cars and the key to any paint work is the attention to detail in the preparation of the aluminum before the application of your etch primer and top coat a urethane finish( 2k) sprayed and baked correctly will give you the best results. If you need further advice pm me and I will try to give you a step by step to help you out.

Here are some pics of my Monaro I'm restoring to give you a idea of what can be accomplished.cheers.post-20199-136205477761_thumb.jpgpost-20199-136205481772_thumb.jpgpost-20199-136205485365_thumb.jpgpost-20199-136205487506_thumb.jpgpost-20199-1362054891_thumb.jpgpost-20199-136205491282_thumb.jpgpost-20199-136205493077_thumb.jpgpost-20199-136205494887_thumb.jpg

Save the money your planning on using to paint it and just put it towards other upgrades, white boat silver boat still the same just looks prettier but no major advantage really. And unless you spend a motza on the prep work it's not worth it the paint will come off
