Linc
Caught this little guy in Middle Harbour while trying to find some live bait. Apart from tiny pinkies this was the only bait sized fish we caught. Not knowing what it was he went straight back into the water.
0 nbdshroom
Looks like a trumpeter. A smallish fish around 15-20cm in length.
0 Linc
Hmm it does look a lot like a trumpeter after checking google images and since they are not on the fisheries size limit chart it would have been legal to use as live bait, should have chucked him on afterall! 0 Scratchie
trumpeter- not really good for live bait but generally school with whiting! Edited September 16, 2013 by Scratchie
0 Linc
trumpeter- not really good for live bait but generally school with whiting! Thanks for confirming Scratchie. This guy must have confused pinkies for whiting as there wasn't any of them to be found. Are these the same as Tasmanian trumpeter that get quite large and are pretty good eating or is this about as big as they get?

No, not the same, just a small annoying bait stealer, threw one out livebait once and it was bitten in half by most likely a tailor. Edited September 16, 2013 by Krispy ! 0 vedelta
They're such a pest just like the leather jackets. Difference, atleast the leather jackets make a decent dinner feed. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk HD

0 ace
Good livey for big flatties probably because they croak and make a bit noise once pinned with a live bait hook
