Its Snapper Time

Been trying to work out the grounds down south for a couple of years now but looks like this year has paid off,

Let me tell you its not easy down down there and if you think you can just take your boat and have a big day out on these fish you have another thing coming , its called disappointment,

To have a good day out first think of been on the water and work out the area and hope these fish bite, I have seen them on the sounder but they wont touch anything, then there are days you wished you stayed in bed especially for the beginner but dont let that stop you, just have fun, you will get the odd fish and maybe a few, then there is these guys with awesome sounders and just bloody good at what they do and just pick these fish of like cherries ,

And I know I will be back down south with my tail between my legs after a long day with only one fish in the esky, but hey thats called fishing, its awesome

Great fish it looks like you have cracked the code.

thats the funny bit, new moon, full moon, half moon, mid tides all have produced fish

Plastics, jigs, bait also all produced fish.

so Im still not sure what the code is lol

tasty feed boys

Thanks swordy

Nice fish mate and good honest report, Have found it very tough this year on the reds very frustrating :mad3:

yeah mate it can a very frustrating experience but keep going and experiment, do what suits you, I do recommend to anchor shallow, berley up and fish unweighted pillies in your pilli trail, this kind of fishing you need to be at y

our spot 5/6am and out of the water 10am

Great stuff mr groper! Good to see you back on the fish and getting a few! Nothing like a feed of reds. It's been a pretty good season for them! Lots of them up here too. Well done :)

Cheers scratchie!!!

Thanks mate great to be back, was a frustrating experience renovating, took up all my time for a while and missed out on our regular family holidays this year but the snapper season is making up for it

Can you get some decent snapper around the jibbon bombie? Thinking of venturing out around the heads. Any guidance would be much appreciated

I Have met a guy twice after my trips and he had a couple of decent fish , he stated it was behind the bombie, he says he work the area in the afternoons say 3 om till dark

Cheers mate. I've done some research and it seem like it would hold reds but never really seen reports.

your welcome

Im willing to be the guinnea pig here and try out the bommie theory but i just a clarification, when he says 'behind' the bommie. is he talking seaward side or the shallow, calm inner side?

all bombies hold good fish and yes behind meaning seaside , I know for a fact big kings have also been caught there, its about putting in the hours I have found
