Rafo
Good morning all, Couple of days ago I went to Pittwater to try to get Tailors but I wasn't lucky at all. in 2 couple of hours fishing (using a float rig + mullet as bait) I managed to get a 50cm snook fish (very similar to pike but different fins). This fish is not good for eating but will try it as bait next time. Best, R
recurve
I don't think you need a chart of Rigs and Tactics for these fish. In my experience they are like Cuda's. You barely need to make an effort to get them.
Rafo
I just put the photo to show the fish because it is very similar to pike but for some reason in the AFN guide they showed it as a snook

Yowie
While not the best eating fish, they are still edible. Have tried them a few times. Better eating than the stinky yellow fin pike. Quite popular for eating in Victoria.
Blackfish
I think you will find that its a Yellowtail Barracuda or as I call them a "Sea Pike" Edited January 6, 2017 by Blackfish
PaddyT
if it smells its a pike, if it smells and its long - its a longfin pike, if it smells and its short its a shortfin pike. Damn good bait for kings, jews and spanish mackeral- I think i ate one when i was about 15 - and I havent been back to try again!
Rock&Beach
Yep i was going to say the same thing. Back in WA if i started catching these they went out as bait for jewies as they loved them.

Yowie
Unless they are poisonous, most fish are edible to some degree. Exceptions to that include Rock Cale and Morwong.
