Lure split rings

Does anyone know why on stickbaits (out of the box) the  split rings for attaching the hooks are larger than the tow point split ring?

Sometimes it seems like the larger split rings used for attaching hooks are overkill as a smaller split ring would be sufficient to handle drag pressure and provide enough room for the hooks to move.

I will change the split rings to a size that accommodates the hook. I only use split rings that are 'Made In Japan'. Check the packets as to the country of origin.

Depends on the lure. You may have to change split pins and the hooks. I use Stainless only.

The tow points are a solid piece which is probably rated higher than the splits rings attached to it.

also can only assume cheaper lures use cheaper components hence bigger split rings. A quality stainless ring would be smaller than a similar rated split ring.

The split ring is sized to suit diameter of treble or single hook  the front is sized to suit a swivel which will be smaller diameter

I can buy in Stainless in any size to suit.
