JDCpng
Loaded up the car and got up to Swansea in the avo.... traffic was ok, beating the holiday crowd. The hotel room we checked into was crappy but did it’s job for the night. (Reminder to self next time.... chose somewhere else!). Friday 2nd Oct, the weather was the pick of the week. Got to the jetty at about 6am. By 6:30, we were at 40m catching slimys (no yakkas!). After a quick fire 10-15 min and about 20 slimys later, we were off to the 100m-plus fishing marks. The first three marks yielded some pinkies, nannygais and the usual nuisance jackets. The fourth mark was a bomy so we dropped both kingie and bottom bashing rigs. Within 3min of the rigs hitting the bottom, the kingie rig rod buckled over (kingfish on!). It took about 5-10min to land the 1m-plus beauty. (That was the only kingie strike for the day..... which is weird as they usually travel in greater numbers then one). The bottom bashing rig was moderately constant with the other fish of the day being the grunting John Dory.... greedy fish!. Hope you enjoyed the read. Cheers.
