EdCain
After at least a 10 year hiatus from casting lures in to the surf (boats and kayaks are just far too attractive these days), I found myself walking a beach early morning, with rod in hand, a simple metal slice, looking for a decent gutter, just south of Sussex Inlet. I found a cracker of a hole, and an hour of casting, with a fast retrieve such that the lure skipped along the surface, resulted in a dozen visual strikes, half that hooked up, and 4 landed. Biggest a smidge over 50cm. great fun, and the smoker is being prepped as we speak.

Berleyguts
Good stuff! One of my favourite forms of fishing! Don’t tell my wife though... she’ll try and get me to sell my boat! 😂 Not that I’ve been using it lately! Green Hornet
Great catch mate. I love this simple style of fishing and spend a fair bit of time fishing the Sussex beaches myself. Great part of the world.
