michaelbbeck
Hi guys and ladies, serious question. Without starting a competition or vent fest I'd like honest opinions without the bravado. I'm looking at a larger 6m plus alloy cc of the style of a bar crusher xs or xsr. This is a serious investment for an experienced fisho inshore, offshore, and occasional shelf type work. Love to hear your thoughts. Michael
noelm
Plenty of boats in that size to choose from, hardest part might be actually getting one, I guess you need to choose "off the shelf" or custom build.

back cruncher
Hi all…Michaelbbeck….I had a 6 m barcrusher and loved and miss that boat.I now have a much larger hainshunter.the barcrushers get knocked a lot by people, and I really don’t know why…I highly recommend them. michaelbbeck
Thanks guys I've had 5.5m custom alloy plate cc, I found it wasn't as good as glass(not looking for perfection). It was amazing seaboat but pounded into a slip a bit, and I'm a bit older now. It only had about a 14deg deadrise and was heavy. My thoughts are that 6.5 m would be much better especially with a shaper deadrise. I liked the sharpness of the barcrucher also the Surtees. Love the platform of the xs and xsr
slowjigger
If you like the BC design then have a look at Surtees. The are almost identical but a slightly better deal might sway you. Also I like the look of the McLay range.
antonywardle
There is an interesting youtube from the surtees guy who says that BC copied him. Surtees look pretty good, I have a mate qwho as a workmate 540 and its a nice boat. I also like the look of the Mclays. I have an old Stessl Yellowfin 5.8 and i love it
