Decided late Friday night that it would be a good idea to head out for a rare (for me) morning trout session. 430am wake up, hit the streams at 630am. New spot that I had heard some good reports from. Once again spin fishing with hardbodies.

Beautiful location. 1st cast, hookup and dropped, second cast pulled in a little reddie. 4th cast a nice little rainbow. Ended up with 8 bows and 5 reddies, with at least 10 more fish dropped after hook up. My dad added 3 trout and 1 redfin to this. So many fish feeding on the surface... there's nothing like sight casting to feeding fish.

Biggest trout went mid 40s (awesome colours 🤩), biggest reddie around 40cm (released itself before i got a photo). Didn't get any measures as I was standing mid stream for both fish.

By far my best session ever on the trout, even though we were only fishing for 2 and a 1/2 hours.

All fish released to fight another day. Would have kept the reddies but some Muppet forgot the esky (#morningbrain😴)

Well worth the early start and 3 hr return trip.

Very well done guys. Some really healthy looking fish there. Well worth the effort of getting up early and having a bit of a drive. Bet you'll manage a few more trips there, just remember the ice box. Cheers, bn

@big Neil I was somewhat surprised at our success... it's an easily accessible spot so I expected it would be more highly pressured!

The esky is definitely coming along next time 😊

Well done @R E G I C Y C L E, great to see you posting, I’ll look forward to your reports. The Bass have certainly been going nuts at the moment with all this fresh flushing through, even trout in the upper Nepean.
