Jfish
Hi The last fish I caught in 2022 was a cobia! My first cobia. 😃 It was 41cm long. I caught it on a sluggo while fishing from land in Sydney harbour. It was released. Happy new year! Edited January 2, 2023 by Jfish

Pickles
Great effort @Jfish, those ‘cobes are a great fighter - every bit as good as the mighty kingfish and as @bessell1955says, a top eating fish when around to 70cm+ size. looking forward to future reports. Jfish
@bessell1955 I have never eaten a cobia. What do they taste like?
Jfish
@Pickles Thank you! Which fish (at the same size) do you think fight harder - a kingfish or a cobia? I have never eaten a cobia. What do they taste like?

Yowie
Nice little cobia. A bit small to eat at that size due to it's thin body. The meat is fairly firm, good flavour, distinctive taste.
Jfish
@Yowie Thank you! I’m curious now and keen to taste one. Hopefully I can catch a bigger one soon. 🤞

Size for size, I don’t think anything fights like a kingfish, but I’ve never caught a Giant Trevally or Dog tooth tuna.
