Basil D
Wierd looking Leather Jackets ??? I Agree, they look like Trigger Fish
Yowie
Did you eat any of them? Trigger fish are poisonous, so if you ate any and you are still reading this, they must be some type of jacket. Have caught many types of jackets over the years, but have not seen this one before. What is the biggest you landed? Yowie.
wannabefisho
Am pretty sure its NOT a triggerfish, here is a link to an oceanography site that lists ALL triggers in Australian waters and none look like the ones here... NOTE- the trigger species are listed @ the bottom of the page My link Even though having not seen one like these before I'd certainly check before eating them, lol Tight lines Anthony Edited May 25, 2010 by wannabefisho
PerryR
Look like unicorn leatherjackets. I was fishing at the quarantine marker last year about this time and they were in our berley trail. Cheers

Ray R
Nice catch of jackets mate, yeah they are unicorns, those big buggers were chewing off my bottom fishing rigs last week and like CC says I've never seen them that close in before either.. Black CC
I scored a couple of these on Sunday at Sow & Pigs and had them for dinner last night - very nice eating.
Keflapod
Hey Custom, Yes these are unicorn leatherjackets. Excellent eating. I have caught them on the peak (62m) and the 12 mile reef (108m). My mates have even caught them on the plonk hole (130m) so they certainly get around if you caught them on the stones.... Tony
Prev
I was as avoca rocks last week and these things demolished our baits. My pillie lasted all of 2mins. You could see them in the water. I tried to catch them with small hooks. Managed to drop 4 of them. Just pulled the hook somehow. My mate caught one. The skin peels like a leather jacket and it had a small horn on it's head. We managed one salmon as well before the jackets got to the bait.
