I was up there last year and didn't do any fishing, but my girlfriend started throwing bread in the water across the road from the bakery on the marina because she could see fish in the water - within minutes we had schools of enormous bream, garfish + lots of tropical fish. Unfortunately no fishing rods - but the water is FULL of fish!

My mate and I were on Maroubra beach recently - and we both suddenly smelt a very distinct smell - we both looked at each other .... looked down and realised the small staffy (dog) that ran past a few minutes earlier had taken a crap on the sand between us

Take some bio-degradable balloons with you and use the wind direction to float your baits out further if you can! You can set your bait deeper this way as you don't need the rig to be ass efficient for casting

Wow .. Didn't know that! Interesting read. So where would be better to fish ? The beach chasing fish trying to get out or the lagoon chasing fish that are trying to get in ?

I'm confused - I was there about a month ago and the lake and the ocean were separated by at least 200m of sand. How does it open ?? Is it done by machine or is this a naturally occurring phenomenon ??

A guy on the beach on the weekend told me that his mate caught a 10kg snapper in the bay, he took it to get turned into a trophy/wall plaque and the trophy guu dobbed him in to fisheries so that fisheries would make the spot he caught it a sanctuary zone. . . . take from that what you will. Seems sus to me

Ok just got cleaned up. I ended up hitting Maroubra. Got there at 7:40pm after a lot of mucking around. I will do a report tomorrow but we got a flatty and a tailor. Woooooo!

Hey Huy, Have you seen this link : http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/saltwater/weigh I think PREDATOR is right - one of those scales you hook onto a net or a mat would be best.

I've got my gear in the car and I'm tossing up hitting one of the Northern Beaches or maybe Maroubra after work today. Anyone know of any good gutters that are producing today/at the moment? Last few times I have been out, all the gutters had been washed flat! High tide 1.6m tonight at 19:50pm

I sawin a video some guys attached a long go pro stick to a big styrafoam float and tied it to the boat with a big red arrow painted on top so they knew which way it was pointing. might be an idea so you can concentrate on fishing/netting and not worry about the go pro knowing it is rolling. Awesome videos! Keep up the great reports!

I had a look around for a second hand or new motor a few months ago - It is cheaper to buy a whole new boat! If you find a decent price let me know too - curious to see what you end up paying

Thats not a bad idea. get a gopro and mount it on a remote control boat on a 1m long pole under the boat. the gopro would keep it stable in the rough surf haha

I Tighten the drag all the way up, spray with the hose and wipe dry with a clean rag then loosen off the drag. Sometimes if they are really bad I use a soft brush and some soapy water to get sand/salt off

Its on an Android so dont know if it will be the same for iphone - but the one I use is called "Fishing Calender" Also got a moon phase widget and a tides widget (you can see them both above) - the tides one is called "Tides & Currents" I might buy the real yellow almanac next time I am at BCF and compare.

Today also 11%. I think we have the same app Scratchie. And the rest of the month. Little blue squares on each date indicate efficiency.
