  3. Good on you for offering a spot! If I didnt have a birthday tonight I'd have a crack with you at that Jew Bridge Hope the fishing gods are kind for your offer. Looking forward to a report monday morning!
  4. Get yourself one of those water depth charts of the area that shows where the holes are and look for a deep hole. I dont know the area sorry. But those charts are on the DPI website I think
  5. Awesome work! Hope this means all the beach gutters are now reforming for the weekend!
  6. I had a yakka out one night as live bait at Clifton gardens - after an hour I reeled in to see if he was still alive and kicking and found the eyes had been eaten out and there was a white cockroach looking bug inside the head cavity - are they sand fleas ?? It was about the size of a large brown cockroach - pretty disturbing at 3 - 4am when you're starting to get tired!
  7. That is what I saw at Maroubra beach last year around October I think it was when the "Red Tide" ? was around Sydney. It looked like lightning shooting through the waves as they broke - amazing. Another video : And one more! Is this what you saw Quochuy? By the way - I liked your facebook page so I see all your fishing adventures! Cant wait til the Northern beaches fire up!
  8. Is this the same as the Red Tide that was in Sydney around this time last year ? It makes the waves crash electric blue. Could explain why the fish on the Northern Beaches are not around - Last year I heard it was keeping the fish away ..
  9. I got a decent flatty off the beach at Bundeena last year in Summer
  10. Made the trek to the pole on Dee Why beach last night, fished from 6:00pm to 10:30 (High tide was 8:40ish) got 3 small sand crabs which were demolishing pilchards as usual. Still cant crack beach fishing. I spoke to a surfer on the way in who told me there were no good gutters at the moment they had all been washed flat. Is this due to the lower high tides? Tried fresh squid, pillies and prawns.
  11. And what plastics?! ... curious now
  12. What size jighead do you use on the beach that is heavy enough to cast with a small enough hook for bream/whiting mouths??
  13. Friday night high tide is 8:40pm. I dont know the area sorry ..
  14. Apparently there are legal zones - see this thread : http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=68110 Not sure about Darling Harbour though ...
  15. Does the Parra River Carp Fish out still happen ? http://www.parracity.nsw.gov.au/your_council/news/media/media_releases2/2009/april_2009/carp_fish-out_returns
  16. How exactly would you put a crab that big on a hook small enough for a bream ? The photo doesn't really show it but the crabs body was about 7 - 8cm from eyes to tail. I did a bit of reading and found advice to break off the back legs and feed the hook in one side and out the other.
  17. Hahaha I was just testing the features of the app one night after I had been fishing. I knew the length but had no idea about weight!
  18. If you dont mind me asking, what beach are you fishing? Nice catch!
  19. The app is called 'Fishing Calender' I think i paid $2.95 for it. It is amazing. Here are some more screen shots of it, including some of the instructions / notes. I think the 'my catches' section would be really useful for Jewie fishos!

    jigging

I haven't caught anything on a gulp worm yet - not saying they dont work just struggling with hook placement I think ..
  21. Even though all the odds were against me today (see pic below) I wanted to wet a line. I packed the car and took some old frozen pillies and prawns with me planning to use them as burley. After a 30min drive I arrived at the bait shop on the princes highway and realised I had left my wallet at home! no fresh bait for me. Next hurdle, I got to captain cooks landing place national park and had to pay $7 parking. Had to call home and get someone to read out my credit card details so I could park! Finally got down onto the rocks at kurnell and not much was happening. Flicked some plastics around that are shaped like a little red/green crab (Gulp! Crabbys) kept getting the legs and claws biten off them but couldnt hook up to what was doing it. At about 4:15 the sun was gone behind the rocks and I wanted to be on the beach for the 5:58 high tide, so I packed up and headed for Wanda beach near the surf club. Fished from 4:50 - 10:00pm and managed a small tailor right around high tide and a few small sand crabs that kept demolishing my pilchards! Nothing amazing to report but was nice to be near the water on such a nice day. One thing I want to recommend to everyone is to get some of that bait wrap / string stuff. It comes as a little spindle and it is magic at keeping mushy pillies whole and on the hook!
  22. Its on hold for 2 years, so in 2 years we have to deal with it again? Someone should sink it. What a joke.
  23. Spend a day on youtube watching every fishing guide, rig tips, bait tips, knots tips, beach fishing tips, soft plastic tips etc video you can find! Youtube is a goldmine of information and much quicker than reading a book. You can hone in on exactly what sort of fishing you want to be doing. The most important thing is not to give up first few times if you dont catch anything. It is winter so the fishing is a little slow and I guarantee there are seasoned pros on here that still have days or nights out without a bite!
  24. Such a weird looking fish! Looks like a chrome belt! What do they fight like?
