  3. no the pup definately doesnt seem to be overly impressed with the hole situation.... but definately an incrediboly awesome dogs are huskys i have a border collie and a border collie / husky and they are my best budds hahah but definately and aweesome dog...
  4. i dont think your an environmental terrorist i think its just a matter of oppinion me personally i have seen the damage that a nice set of oyster cuts can cause it cost kme swimming at national and if it was to stop personal injury i dnt see it being an issue and bvesides u gave a set of clearly hungry breambos a decent feww
  5. hey i have a number of beach outfits that i use interchangably depending on conditions... the reels i use are 2 penn 6000vs 1 spooled with 12 one spooled with 15 and an alvey 7.5inch surf spooled with 20lb mono... one of these reels will soon be replaced with a baitrunner probably an okuma 80c or something similar in size and that will be spooled with 20lb and thagt will become my jew outfit and the alvey will then be respooled with the 15lb sooo in the end penn 6000v 12lb penn 6000v 15lb alvey 7.5inch 15lb okuma 80 20lb rod wise i have a few that i like the onee i do most of my surf fishing for bream and whiting is also soon to be upgraded but is about 20 years old and is a 12 foot fairly floppy jervis walker port hacking and in calm conditions is incredible for fishing for whiting and bream and can cast some small ball sinkers and worms and pipis around my main surf rod is a old 12 foot lb husky alvey mount that does an awesome jobn on sambos and tailor and some of the bigger bream off the beach and also does ok for casting out wide off the stones... however as i mentioned earlier in one of my other posts i will soon do some shuffling round of my rock and beqach gear when i finish paying off my new babys 3 new snyders that will olead to me having to purchase a new alvey and a new baitrunner but its all part of the game..[
  6. absolutely spewing was planning on going out for a trip down to lilli pilli last nite but instead went to go see the missus as the nagging was getting way to much.....neways well done and a great efort
  7. well everybody i went the other day and bought 3 new snyder rods gonna pay them off and then if ne are left buy some more... i ended up getting all 3 alvey mounts and 12 foot models i got a mag blackfish rod which i think is a 3 wrap but wasnt marked but will fill the hole for a alot of my bream fishing i got a new 4 wrap and a 8 wrap but alas with only 7 snyders left at my 3 local stores unfortunately none of which are sponsors so i cannot mention them but there being only 7 left i am now thinking that there will be a massive hole in the market that i dont think ne1 will be able to fill in the near future.... snyder and butterworth blanks for so long have been the only choice for rock work and beach work for many individuals but what can you do it has been done... I understand gary howard has begun to attempt to expand into the gap but is a long way off being all that the aformentioned have been. but just wondering what is everyones impressions and where is everyone goin to replace the hole left... i know before people mention the fact that the end of snyder has been covered already but was curious as to where others are goin to fill the hole......
  8. ok well im gonna put my hand up and say next tgime u need to do a similar job just lemme know where to be and ill be there3 with a rod in hand and using some of the oysters as bait i could yhandle a few of the miod sized ones as a feed....
  9. i was also at the place we shall not mention but yeh they do go alrite and are by no means the best squid jigs but definately of good quality when squidding i almost exclusively use yo-zuri and yakamito as value for money they are the best especially when they are half price as the yozuri ones were also at the same place down to $5
  10. bloody top effort to bag out like that been struggling a bit meself lately but looks like me and a mate will head out tuesday into botany on his boat what baits and what spots u get em on lend a bloke a hand hahaha dw im onl;y looking for a feed for a bbq this weekend u give me a hand ill feed em good for yah before yah get ther next
  11. definately worth the time to fillet and bone them they make awesome fillets for fish burgers or if you get a big enuff bag they make awesome fish cocktails in a seafood gnosh up along with some squid garries and other seafood stuff hmmm basically simple method is watching the spines run a thin flexible very sharp knife down on an angle folling the head as a guide down to the spine then follow the spine out till the end of the tail simple quick and relatively painless if you miss the spines
  12. hey i dunno if theyre in the harbours but during a rather failed bream and lizard session bout a week ago saw an old bloke pulling em out of snags just upstream from tom uglys on the the georges some quality fish amongst em as well

  18. id be really interested to see a few pics if possible of the rods and to know what the ratings are as well as if there arer any makers names on the rod on a semi rleated note in a similar activity a while back i found my great grandfathers split cane rod and suspect from the information i can gert trhat it was a rod used for fishing for blackfish dating to about just before 1900
  19. well as a west ham supporter nothing makes me happier than getting up against chelsea or seeing em get beatewn but chelsea should definately be pissed off and definately got ripped off
  20. yeah you get used to the weight i fish off the beach with a couple of rods i have an older butterworth that does an amazing job but i have a softer and a slower tapered rod that is a late 70's i think jaervis walker port hacking and it is unbelieveable fishing whiting in the surf and have hammered a couple of solid tailor and salmon off the beachwith it it does the job... furthermore i would like to add 2 things on this topic a if anyone has a heap of spare money save the snyder glas name and buy it because they arwe goin out of business at the end of the yer because they cant fuind someone to buy the neam but as a further note to that bjuy your snyder glas blanks now because tyhey wont be able new for much longer.... i intend to buy 2 or 3 when i can scrape the cash togethe
  21. Ok well here goes by no means am i an expert and im sure if this thread is boosted back up top the top of the recent posts one of the more senior members will help you further but i will answer with the best of my knowledge and all of my reading mind u it has been a fair bit lately owing as im considering doing some rods and trying to do it as a lil more than a hobby whilst am uni and seeing where it leads... ok to start 1) Rod Taper... Rod taper does not so much influence how u fish rather how u wish to fish afects what rod taper u look for something of a fast taper means it bends a little over a large portion of the rod and greatly in the final section and a slow taper as such refers that it bends throughout the rod.. The taper is important for several reasons. The feel for the lure being used and the fish being caught dictate the appropriate taper use. A fast action tip will be used when fishing jig type lures. The angler can feel and therefore control what the lure is doing quite easily. Since only the very tip of the rod bends, when a fish strikes the angler has ample rod shaft and backbone to set the hook correctly. In contrast to fast tapers, the slow flex rods offer the angler advantages when fighting large fish with light fishing line. This additional flex allows the rod to absorb the force of the fish as opposed to the lineas such fishing for bream with light line with a slow tqaper rod you can use the rod to increase the pressure you can out on the fish. 2) Technique Specification... Tecnique wise most of the rods that you will buy off the rack have a general purpose element to them which means that you may buy a rod to spin small sp's but it will still have more in it to cast baits than a rod that you have had custom built for a specific purpose..as such it is more of a the other elements you have described in nthe other questions that effect the type of rod that wrks for.. 3) Line rating... This refers to the idea that if a fishing rod is rated at a specific weight ie 2 - 4 kg it represents that the rod will behave in its prescribed manner if being used at its optimum line rating. meaning that if a rod is rated at 2 - 4 kg then if you are using 20lb line the rod will behave differently given the extra tension that can be applied.. 4) Guides... Ok basically in a article writtin by ian miller the main purpose of the guide is to control the line during casting and fighting the fish and as such the lightest option that will cover the nrod is often the most viable one. bearing in mind you get what you pay for and that fuji guides are a class above the rests you can get many other australian components that i am a big fan of (pacific composites) however for comfort and weight wise for the fisherman especially during prolonged periods of fishing or fighting the lighter the components the more beneficial for you but keeping in mind what the line rating of the rod will be. 5) Reel Seat... this is where someone else will have to help outside my understanding that before building a rod for someone it is required that i know that they intend to use a sidecast reel or a eggbeater i edo not underdstand to much about the extravagancies behind the reel seat but if anyone does have any further knowledge i would apreciate a pm with someone to explain to me the idea behind the intricacies of it. 6) Rod Tips Ok i am unsure what exactly you mean but im gonna try and answer it as i understand it and if im off the track comment and ill try and have another go. Now i think what youre refering to is the modulus of a blank which encompasses the power action and modulus.. modulus refers to the ratio between the stiffness and weight of the rod.basically meaning the higher the modulus of the blank the heavier and stiffer it will be. in reference to your use of floppier blanks for sp's or jigging then i believe that a softer or floppier rod is definately a better option for sofyt plastics as it allows for more subtlety to the actions however if casting poppers or jigs to big gts up north a stiffer blank would be a better option.... i hope ive helped you out a little but if you need anymore information send me a pom and ill try and answer anymore of your questions orrrr comment here and i think some of the more experienced guys weill be able to help/.
  22. hey man i know youre looking at 150 but to be honest if your looking for quality that will mean you wont have to repurchase or replace a rod for a while a snyder glas option is definately a good goer 239 and u can get a rod that will do everything u ask of it and often more...there is something to be said for quality rods that have that sense of semi individuality take for example the fact that my old mans pig and groper rod for the trocks is 0over 40 years old and i stand by it there is nothing better for stopping a pig from getting back in its lil hiodey hole then it my advice go higher than 150 and look for something better it willbe worth it in the long term
  23. hahahaha what a lil battler looks like u willhave to lift ur game or he will be outfishing you soon hahah and as for the earlier post as to where to get em well badsically work from lennox bridge along the water ways u will probably see them feeding on the surface get some stale breadrolls and crush em up really fine and see if they arer around and it will be a good way to spend a day with the missus and the kids and do some favours for the bass and murray cod of australia but make sure ur not in posession of em when u catch em cos it carries a fine but even more im portantly dont release em
  24. hey diver congrats on an awesome feed u will get an awesome lil meal out of that session hope the arms arent to tired and saw cods ive had a few sessions where moving em the next day hurts hahahah but definately get some nice white fresh fillets off em although my favourite meal that is almost imposible to go past is turning em into a feed of nice lil boneless fish cocktails with a nice fresh tartare sauce just bone em cut em up into cocktails and its amazing....
