  1. i dnt think it was really the point that lennox head was the only one thats not able to get information on...however i fish down at durras lake just back from batemans bay and have pulled some awesome fish out of that area however noone knows what the hell is goin on even when calling dpi and other people that are aparently in charge of these "marine sanctuary zones" cant give you a straight answer in 3 days i spoke to 3 different people and got 3 different answers which it turns out were all incorrect... sop go fig8ure if these people are employed to0 understand and govern this stuff then how is the average jo0e on holidays supposed to know what the go is..obviously you know the areas you can and cant fish in your local but most people dont.... thanks for the maps btw and sorry if it seems like im being arguementative just beauracracy is annoying me atm both with fishing boating and life...what can yah do
  2. bugger didnt even know it was on
  3. hey mate excellent choice good luck for monday im eyeing off one of the navi's or elf's atm hahah also looking at getting one of the pfleuger presidents prolly 2-4kg or maybe something 1-3kg in the 200 to 300 buk range
  4. thats awesome great effort there m or f
  5. hey mate i just laybyed today a pfleuger supreme p3 jig rod and saragosa 5000f it sounds like it would do the job for what you need it for all up it cost me just over 600 if youre keen you could even go a little higher and go the twinpower in an 8 and the rod will still be fine my suggestion go into a decent size3d tackle store something like a go fish or you know the type of stores im talking bout there all overt the place talk to the guys in there thats youre best bet
  6. hey guys a quick question has ne1 fished boat harbour lately aand secondly keen to go for a run round there as have heard a few good reports trh0ough my local of fish being caught there wondering if ne1 is keen to head round for a trip there
  7. yeah tbh mate i have no experience the same level as either of u 2 but id just like to raise the point estuary wise not so many of the big bream im noticing were (me and the old man) are getting some stonker bream off the beach at a spot we r fishing pretty hard atm were biggest being a 42cm nearly 4lb brute of an animal..but i dunno what else...to me winter was always a time where the school jew went quite and some of the big bad brutes of a fish came out and made guys really earn their keep i have only heard of a couple of isolated reports of serious fish and yet alot of schoolies still around ne comments would be interesting to hear
  8. a little old the report but as per regulations a record claim has to be accompanied by a report sooooooo went down tgo wallys wharf on the 12/5/09 got down there at about 1130 banged out the jew rods with some squid and yakka fillets on the rod we waited and we waited and we waited and guess what we waited and nothing not even pickers id never seen it so quiet neways slowly the rod with the squid head loaded up with weight i was relatively hopeful but alas it was a dead wait im thinking puffer or toad fish neways got close to the wharf and it was a crab... a good sized bluey that was lifted onto the wharf and was hooked through the rear left swimmer neways extremely angry at his inconvenience he was thrown in the bucket to be measured when we go home he went 11cm.... this old mate was taken while fishing for jew from wallys wharf on the 12/05/09 at wallys wharf on a squid head ripped up to a 6/0 hook he was hooked through the rear left swimmer not sure if u accept records for crabs as well but figured it was worth a crack he went 11cm from front to back and that is an extremely large dinner plate he is on
  9. IMHO go the common rather than the easy those trophy fish the ones that make being a member here even more worth while so u can whack the happy snaps up on the brag board...they have a nasty way of finding the slightest little weakness in your tackle and destroying u..making u look like a fool in the process ive had sessions where ive been fishing off the rocks for pigs and caught bootfish after bootfish and then losing hooks by the end of oit i was fed up took a short cut and as i was lifting the pig out of the water my knot failed my suggestion do he common and saev ur trophy
  10. great photos there good to see im not the onoly one planning my next big trip mines a lil further away than yours but oh well it happens ive got my location just working out timing for the mullet run next may i need to go back up to swr and get onto some big jew up that way next year ive completely missed out on getting up there this year for pigs or jew ...oh well
  11. ok 2 things ive found that im gonna recomend number 1 swivels always use good quality ball bearing swivels in the surf they can save you so much trouble during a long session number 2 keep it simple the less things that can go wrong the better my jew rig for a long time was basically a standard surf rig..ball sinker or bean sinker down to a swivel...slightly heavier trace line down to a hook of choice recently this was changed to a standard ball or bean sinker that is based upon the conditions...good quality swivels as in point number 1...slightly heavier trace for jews or tailor or in the case of bream and whiting a slightly lighter trace than the mainline..then a 6/0 circle hook running down to a treble stinger with these hooks fixed in position at an interval as needed wit5h the bait some peopler may recomend a running snell but im a bigger fan of them being set snelled as if ur bottom hook fails for example all things being equal your top hook is still in place..this rig works well for things like yakkas and squid in the surf for jew these are my suggestions im sure otgher people will have their own and thats the beauty of fishing..however my suggestion to you is try everything people suggest if it works awesome ur set if it doesnt take it as a grain of salt and move onto the next one..you can always learn from others
  12. mate i personally would suggest waiting and getting a little more money under yiour belt and going up in price range even just a grand tbh mate theres a big gap between that price range ie less tahn 2grand and then 3grand....
  13. im a big believer in buy good buy once many of my rods are 20 or 30 year old butterworths and love them its not a matter of not having the money to upgrade th e gear its more s0o the love of what i have and as far as fishing gear goes b8uy good buy once... on the note of uglystiks how come there is such a difference in quality of australian uglystiks as opposed to the US ones
  14. i dunno i have an 8w and i use it as a hands on rod off the rocks and on the beach...problem being u do need to harden up a little bit..but snyderglas and butterworth rods are hard to go past for beach and rock work
  15. yeah id pretty much settoed upon the shimano baitrunner 6500 as the treel it weas more so just wondering what rod you guys reckon but thanks for that
  16. hey man just read your post searching through some older posts ne chance of some more direction on where you got em got some mates out that way that are keen to get into fishing and figured carp arent a bad way to do it since they live out that way thanks for the hand man
  17. hahahaha wow people saying its to heavyh hahah i just bought 3 new snyders 1 is a 10' mag bream rod thats a 3wrap and its become my breamrod while the 8w and an old butterworth 7w are my pig rods and my jew rods off the beach i tell youwhat when fishing off the stones i would not trade my butterworth or snyders for all the gold in the world they can take a beating like no other and still keep going i understand that the graphite rods are lighetr and often cheaper but i still think theres a huge section of the fishing market where a snyder or butterworth fibreglass rod has more pros than cons
  18. hey guys just wondering what your recomendations are for a rod that will be used for throwing round live baits (squid, yakka, slimies) or dead baits for jews in botany bay and the hawkesbury mostly...but yeah just looking for a few recomendations... guidelines less than 200 bux and preferably a threadline mount..more than likely a shimano baitrunner
  19. hey man i dunno if ur keen but i know where u can buy some and its good quality
  20. yeh one of my fav spots up there havent done much out of boats up there but ive seen some massive jews lande3d on the beach up there and seen some fat bloody pigs taken off the rocks...planning next years trip up there as we speak..planning on sum early may jew and pig fishing sessions for a week or so... really pumped but great effort there and good nto wsee people who dont particularly like fish enjoying the sport and letting the little buggers swim on and fuight another day
  21. the one on the left is a crimson banded parrot fish and i finished a feed of slightly bigger ones 2 nights ago and they have a really nice white flesh but makesure u brak there necks and put them in a rock pool to bleed em when you catch and stop them from thrashing around and bruising.. the one on the right as saidd above is a female wrasse as far as ive always known
  22. mmmm some prime jew and tailor bait there my good man..
  23. went out andx cleaned the fish just then and wow im a lil surpriserd the 2 bigger breambos had pilli chunks in em and all of them had nippers ion em so i dunno they must have travelled a while when theyh go caught cos i havent seen anyone else fish there and i fish there 4 to 5 times a week
  24. great effort and good onya for letting it go been some reports of late of people being "unaware" of the spawning season restrictions....fish9ing karma will be on your side
  25. thinner diameter and a l.ine thats rated at 6lb thats braid will break at a hiugher tension then 6lb mon as well as you also get a better feel for the bites and increases the odds of you hooking up those fish...however the knots can be prone to slipping if theyre not tied properly so youre knot knowledge has to be very solid..
