  8. Hi Guys we are pretty new to chasing marlin , in a few recent trips we have seen large schools of feeding dolphins , is it worth trolling the area for other pelagics or do the dolphins pretty much stick to themselves?? your thoughts!!! cheers snr
  9. definately yes a good thing, BUT , we have seen it all before a new pest bought in to kill one pest and then it goes berserk!! cane toads for eg , lets hope they do get it right we have a very muddy dam that needs to be done!! snr

Yes Don It certainly was a quite day , the conditions were lovely , we trolled from the banks to fad , plenty of 55cm kings at the outer banks , but nothing beyond that , we did some drops at the fad but seargeant baker was the only takers , even had trouble finding any flatties for a feed on the way in anyway twas a nice day on the water!! snr

  16. Hi Raiders, just got back from Weipa last Friday night to hear my roosters get beat on the radio on the drive home!! not happy !! Any way I had my usual 10 days in fishing heaven but this time nearly all my fishing was bait fishing on the close reefs, in contrast to all previous trips which are mostly lure fishing I only caught a few queenies on lure this year. One thing I can say is that the shark population in Weipa is growing rapidly to the point that sometimes you coudnt get a fish in the boat before being sharked I saw plenty of big bull sharks andblack tip reef sharks , had a great fight with a bull shark over a two kilos tusker got the shark back to the boat where he promptly let go of my fish a win for me. its surprising how much fight you get out of a fish in only 6 meters of water when you have to get him to the boat pronto or lose it , the majority of my catches were Tuskers, several varieties, and sweetlips , had a great relaxing time with nothing to do but fish , or prepare for fishing what I did learn this year was how to fish these shallow reefs to success, the last two days saw me pretty much bag out on the reef species. Anyway on the other note just got back from urologist and hes happy with my biopsy results , its wait and see for now with a check up again in December to review progress , in 59 biopsy samples they found only 2 with less than 5% cancer cells of the non aggressive type!! Now its time to prepare for next years houseboat trip , September 21st to 30th 2016 if your are interested please let me know pronto, I need this booked out by xmas!! cheers snr
  17. thanks Bruce, leaving tomorrow 6am, will be fishing solo but thanks to you have a pretty good idea where to find some fish , enjoy your holidays , would love to catch up for a fish! i get results from last weeks prostate biopsy when i get back from weipa . but feeling confident!! cheers for now!! ray
  18. Hi Raiders. A lot has happened to me this year , since my last post on this thread, I have been diagnosed with high level PSA, before we could get onto treating this I was also diagnosed with bowel cancer and within weeks had been operated on, successfully I might add. and recuperated from surgery , this obviously put the prostate option on hold , until now , this Thursday will be having biopsy done and will get results on Monday 14th. fingers crossed, My dilemma is that I still have my airfairs booked and paid for to fly out Wednesday morning 16th at 6am . To Go or not to go ? that is the question I have been pondering on for months now, and only today I have decided that yes I will be at Weipa this year , This will be a bit different from my normal yearly trip, solo fishing in the local region, I have a little experience in this area so expect to be able to catch a feed so to speak. For those interested I have made a tentative booking for the houseboat for next September . PM me if your interested and I will forward the details.
  19. That LBG report was from Beecroft ledge apparently last Wednesday. ,Digga Dan and I were 300 mtrs off Beecroft last Sunday when there was big bust up of very big fish fifty mtrs away .I believe they were tuna must be some bait schools in the area .might be worth trolling this area hard .pitty Dan has finals footy tomorrow.
