  1. Well done mate. And great report.
  2. It is. I was being polite, just in case they were Raiders. No attempt to move for me to get through either. No sign of Maritime at 4.30am.
  3. I drift using 2 droppers off a paternoster rig. Pillie on one, squid on the other. Cover all bases.
  4. Went out 5pm Saturday to take a couple of mates out for a fish in Middle Harbour overnight. We tried to get some livies first but they didn't seem to be around, so we anchored up and started the burley going. Steve (Cluster13) a fellow Raider was first to hook up with a big Port Jackson He enjoyed it though. I was getting nothing then Steve hooked up again, just before dark. This time, a bit better. A 60cm Jew taken on a supermarket prawn, believe it or not. That was it until about midnight, until Kai got a hook up. It didn't do much at all at first but it had some good weight, then it saw the boat and bust him off Someone hadn't set the drag properly. My fault as Kai was using my gear . It was definatly a good Jewie. Everything shut down after that so we had a short snooze before heading into the main harbour for first light. Had to negotiate several boats anchored under the spit bridge as we went through, hope they did better than us. Very quiet in the Harbour until we moved between the Heads and drifted for a few good flatties. So we all got a feed at least. Pulled the pin about 9am. Dave
  5. Just wondering what you lot think about this. I am planning an overnighter with a couple of mates in middle harbour 2mrw (saturday) ngt. Hoping the weather settles down by then. The boat is on a mooring so I was thinking, get there 5pm ish. Get some bait, back to mooring, have a feed ,few beers(just a couple), then, either on the mooring or Powder Hulk where we are or Sugarloaf and soak a few baits for some Jews and try a bit of squidding while we are at it. Then Hopefully get a real early start out into the main harbour if the weather allows. On a 25 Bertie so should be reasonably comfortable. Just want your thoughts on tactics. Or any ideas would be appreciated? thanks in advance. Dave
  6. Kings starting to fire in Middle Harbour. Great stuff.
  7. I maybe slightly off topic, but when is the next VHF radio course for Fishraiders due? I'm keen to get my licence. Dave
  8. Great to hear the Jews are biting,. Well done. Which waterway were you fishing? I ask, as i am planning an overnighter next week in Middle harbour and am hoping to do half as well as you did. And were you using livies or something else? Cheers, Dave
  9. A mate went a couple of weeks ago,(Sydangler). He jigged a few good kings but the jackets are there in numbers.
  10. Seriously?? I think you need to go fishing.
  11. there is also a ramp by the caravan park, come in from the Pittwater road side. And there is a car park right next to it.
  12. I Agree. Rugby League is a simple game too. As for AFL? I'm watchin the Swanies game.... I just don't get it.. Can't wait for The Lions Tour next year! hahaha
  13. Sounds like a great day out. Well done. Were the Leather Jackets out there in big numbers again? I don't mind catching a few as they are pretty good eating, but they do my head in with the amount of gear you lose. Dave
  14. This report excites me too! as i have just got a mooring at Powder Hulk Bay and moved the boat down from Pittwater. It means I don't have to go far for some quality Kings Well done on the catch O.P. Cheers , Dave
  15. Hi Raiders, I have just moved my boat from a mooring in Pittwater,(Taylors Point by the Navel base), to Middle Harbour. I am now in the process of exploring a whole new area to fish in and have heard a good squid spot is by the Navel Base HMAS Penguin. My chart has the area marked, but not saying whether it is a prohibited area or not? The area at Taylors Point was no problem to fish there but if someone could clarify the situation, that would be cool. Also, a few ideas for around Powder Hulk Bay where I am moored would be good. Not so much secret spots but more of a game plan , as I am looking forward to exploring new territory. cheers all, Dave
  16. We weren't fishing with wire traces . We were getting snipped off at the hook and a couple of times I had 30 metres of braid cut off. Are there less in closer in shallow water? Olly, (Sydangler) we will have to sort out a few night sessions in Middle harbour chasing Jews soon. I will give you a call.
  17. Hi all, After a few years moored in Pittwater we moved the boat to Middle Harbour yesterday (Sunday).Better fishing and also a bit closer to home. We decided to make a day of it and fished all the way down stopping at spots off Newport, Mona Vale, Long Reef etc. We had a few bits and pieces, Trevally, some small snapper, a pigfish(went back). But one constant everywhere was Leather Jackets .We got hammered by them. Between 3 of us we must have re rigged up 15 times. I have never lost so much gear before. We were in varying depths of water up to 55 metres. Has anyone else noticed that they are back in plague proportions? Anyway, we got back to our new mooring in Middle harbour at about 3pm and cracked a beer or 2 in the hope of better fishing in harbour. Lets hope the Kings will make an early appearance. Dave
  18. Just saw the pics of Rose Bay Ramp. Made me wonder if Roseville is all complete yet? Any updates or photos?
  19. If you are on the rocks this weekend... you have them in your head! not under your feet. I was at Dee Why this afternoon and it was huge!! Tho i did see some dolphins in with the surfers....Very cool sight. Stay safe everyone.
  20. Did anyone else see 'The Project' on channel 10 tonight? Not bad coverage, i thought but only Greenpeace were interviewed. Not a rec fisher in sight. At least the general public may have seen it now it has made it to mainstream tv. Your thoughts? Welsh Dave
  21. Sensational Congratulations.
  22. PM sent. Great fishing up there. Gotta love the Kings in the Bay of Islands. Dave
