  1. I can testify that there is at least one PJ up there as i got a big one at Yeoland point a few months back.
  2. Went out at about 6.30 with a few mates and headed to Balmoral for some yakkas. Got a few but they were very shy, though there was lots of them there. We then headed out around South Head and found a nice drop off, so decided to give that a go for a while. I had my boss and his son onboard and pretty soon he was into a big Sergeant Baker on on of our precious livies. 10 minutes later he was on again to a small King, around 55cms so he was let go to fight another day. We then went to another spot thinking it was the colours but then Sydangler calls as he is in the boat near us and tells me it was the artificial reef. As we are on the phone my bosses son Mitch Thompson, (singer who was on The Voice) hears his brand new Stradic starts screaming, (need to tighen that drag up a bit Mitch!) A nice fight for him and a legal Kingy was in the net. Just over 66cm. After this it all got silly and there were so many boats arriving including an idiot in a small centre console charter outfit (no names mentioned, he wasn't a site sponsor or a name I recognised), buzzed around all of us way too close and nearly cleaned up my anchor rope. His tactic worked and we decided to move on after we let him know what we thought. We still left a few boats there. We then went off for a few Flattie drifts and picked up a few in between the Heads. Pulled the pin around 2pm. Good day all in all and great conditions. Dave

    Fuel Gauge

Haha. Exactly what happened to me. I had to buy a new gauge too.

    Fuel Gauge

I recently had to replace my sender. An easy job, unscrew and replace and reconnect 2 wires. Sender lengths differ depending on tank size. Mine is a 300 litre tank and it needed a 350mm Wema sender.$100.
  5. They will attack your yakka. They have a beak and generally go for just behind the head first.
  6. Hi all. I'm having to refill my compass as I had to take it apart to "de fog" the dome. I have done some research and have found that a mineral oil is used. Can anyone recommend a brand or type I should use or where to get it ? By the way, for anyone who has the same problem of the dome fogging... toothpaste works a treat to polish up the plastic. Thanks in advance , Dave
  7. I agree.... what else can you do on weekends with weather like this. Have a beer because you don''t have to get up at 4am. Wake up late and have a bacon sandwich.
  8. I think I caught one before, on the Harbour. At Sow and Pigs Reef if my memory serves me well.
  9. Came across this near the local Nuclear Power Station near Springfield. I'm thinking it might be a Pigfish? Dave
  10. Nice work there. We were downrigging live yakkas last Saturday near Bluefish point and got 2 goodKings. There was heaps of bait on the sounder too. Dave
  11. If this was FB.... which , thank God it isn't. I would press the LIKE button. I received a prize pack from Pure Fishing back in November, and I have to say , it was lots of quality gear.
  12. I am in exactly the same position. 2nd child is 10 months and eldest nearly 3. If I sell the boat it would never get replaced and she would spend the money on food and stuff...and flights to crappy Dunedin to see her folks. The boat STAYS!!! cos that is all I have left. I rarely go to the pub now, I gave up golf because it took a whole sunday,(19th hole), and I haven't been back to Wales for 6 years. My kids are great. But I need my own vice. Even if I only fish now and again. DON'T SELL IT,unless you are just changing it. Good Luck Welsh Dave
  13. Nice work there Butch. What does the water look like off there now? it wasn't too good when I was there last week. Dave
  14. Sounds like a nice King, well done.I was out sunday off the heads in about 50-60m and got nothing. Were you getting your squid in middle harbour west of the spit or out in the main harbour? We noticed the water west of the spit was green and really dirty. Dave
  15. If he stopped off at Box Head on the way back, I would imagine he meant Broken Bay. And his location on his profile is Hawksbury River.
  16. Well done mate. Top fish and well deserved. Dave
  17. I have just started taking my daughter out now and again. She will be 3 in March. I tend to target small snapper in Middle Harbour. Lots of burley and small hooks. I generally need help on the boat with me (her mum or aunty) as her attention span is small, but we have fun... and that is all that counts. Dave Oh yeah, I nearly forgot... If its a girl, the rod HAS to be pink.
  18. Always worth a shot. As you can see, I'm the Cod man!
  19. Great work young man! Let's hope he is one of your smaller ones by the end of the summer. Dave
  20. I would have to agree. What about the charter operators with rods rigged before they pick up their clients? I regularly take friends fishing and they use some of my rods, so often I am onboard with up to 8 rods or handlines.
  21. I fished the eastern wedding cake last week, early morning. No Kings but a few legal flathead, 2 flounder and some other small bits and pieces.
  22. King for me. My PB Jewie is only 68cms but I have caught a King over a metre. Fishing for me is all about the anticipation, the preparation but ultimately, it's all about the excitement when you get that take and then you have a fight on your hands. For me, the thrill that a Kingy gives you compared to a lazy fight of the Jewies far outweighs it. Kings all the way! Dave
  23. Nice one. Great colours on that first pic.
