  1. Hi Hustler57, That's a big question you have there. As you know with bait fishing the tackle you use is based on what type of fish you are going after and in what conditions you are going to fish. The same applies with lure fishing, what type of lure and size of lure to use depends on what you want to catch and where. When you use bait for fishing, the presentation of the bait is important as it needs to represent something the fish you are targeting wants to eat and has ate in the past. The same goes for lure fishing, you need to pick a lure that represents something that the fish you are targeting eats normally. Lure fishing takes practise, knowing what lure to use in what conditions is all about trial and error. Even once you have mastered what lure to use, you then have to 'work' the lure so that it looks as realistic as possible. I love lure fishing, I get alot of satisfaction out of catching a fish on a lure that is really only a piece of metal or wood. If you suggest what you would like to target first and where you will be fishing, myself or other members might be able to suggest some lures that we have success with in those areas on that type of fish. I hope this helps a bit ... Stephen

    Nav Lights

My 2 cents.... I often find when being in boats that have a 360 Deg stern light it plays havoc with my vision at night. Probably because when your fishing out the stern you have this constant shining light in the corner of your eye.
  3. Sounds exactly like me when I saw this at ATB ..... Then when I turned into cowan, I saw nothing but white..... Headed slowly over to the bank and sat for an hour. When the sun started to come up, I took this photo... Very dangerous place when it is foggy.... Stephen
  4. Saturday will see me and the old man hitting Cowan to see if any bream are about or even try and stir up some John Dory for our Fathers Day BBQ. Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads out there.... happy Stephen
  5. Hey Blackmagic Sounds like a few good days fishing. When we visit swansea and fish the the drop off, I often let a livie down as the Kings tend to hunt the edge after the schooling fish. Happy Fishing Stephen
  6. This is exactly what I wanted to hear.. As I'm planning to hit Broken Bay tommorrow.. Thou I don't think the Hornet 445 would be happy with the swell... Stephen
  7. Dad and I are hitting Broken Bay on saturday morning to see what is around. We probably check if any sambos are out near the island or even sit under the bridge and hope for something big to swim along. Happy Fishing !!!

    New Laptop

Hi Kane, Flightmanager has some good points and you should take note of them. My only concern is if you plan to play the high intensive graphics games like Half Life 2 or Quake 4 a laptop is not the way you should be heading. As you start playing these fast moving games the amount of work the CPU and the Graphics card has to do increases, which increases the amount of heat that is produced. Laptops just don't have the cooling power or the necessary ventilation that is required t keep both the CPU and the Graphics card cool. When these components get hotter the more errors that are produced. In saying all that if you are just after a machine to watch movies, do some word processing and occasionally play some games then Flightmanager's post will point you in the right direction. Stephen
  12. Great find Flattieman I have been looking for one ever since you posted the picture and haven't been able to find it. Anyone had any luck ??
  13. Totally agree and the dead fish will always feed another fish.
  14. I love these.. Is #1 Charlie and Chocolate Factory and maybe #2 is ET
  15. Personally I find it is the way you hold them and each fish species has its own preferred method. For example with Bass, if you gently lay them on the side in the water and pick them up so they remain on their side. Then carefully insert you thumb into their mouth and gently put pressure on their lower lip they become very carefree and relaxed. Just make sure when putting them back into the water you slowly move them back and forward until they swim off. Also with bream if you also do the side lift and and then gently hold them with your thumb on their head and your other fingers around their belly they are also very tame. However if you just pull them up over the side and into the boat they will of course go nuts. Hey if you chucked me oveboard I would go nuts. My 2 cents...
  16. Worked for me. And everyone says fishing isn't a contact sport.

  21. Sparky, From memory using traps \ pots for crabs in Lake Mac is ILLEGAL but scooping them is still LEGAL. There used to be a Dept of Fisheries branch up there, best to give them a call to get exact answer. Best time is in summer when the big prawn runs are running. I found we got great catches by following the weed run, just becareful not to scramble the weed run and wreck it for everyone who is prawning.
  22. That's pretty funny indeed... Guys if your having trouble getting to the site try this link.
  23. Hi KingsRule, http://www.waterways.nsw.gov.au/licence.html The above link should give you all the information your require. As of July 1st of this year it will be compulsary to attend a boating course as part of getting a boat license. Currently you only have to pass a test consisting of 45 multiple choice questions. (very inadequate in my opinion).

    Fuel Prices

Hasn't stopped me (thanks to the 4 stroke), however we are tending to stick around the local waterways. This is just due to towing the boat does tend to suck more petrol.
