  1. Thanks guys. I don't like them very much I have to drown them in seafood sauce but hubby loves them. Tastee, I always use gloves, I hate the smell. Glad you liked it.
  2. We don't eat prawns very often so I am a slow peeler. I found this out accidentally and would like to share it with you. How do you peel and devein your prawns? https://vimeo.com/122876208 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Just noticed my flatty equals my PB caught same place 2 February last year. LOL
  4. Congratulations! Very nice fish. When do we get to see the video?
  5. We arrived at the boat ramp about 6.15am and headed out to the middle of the bay. We drifted around the channel markers with a few other boats. Within about 10 minutes Geoff caught the little shovel nose on a peeled prawn. I was using my usual bait chicken breast rolled in parmesan cheese without success. I changed over to headless prawns and caught a nice 58cm flatty. Geoff landed a couple of 35cm flatties and a bream. We both got a few little squires. All were released except our dinner, my flatty. It was great to be out in the boat again even with the swell and breeze. I hope it's not too long between outings. Lyn
  6. social at Lake Macquarie would be great.
  7. Great! Now if they could just add a fishing licence as well.
  8. Maybe one of the inspectors was new and it was a training exercise. Good to see them out there doing their job.
  9. Thanks for organising the evening. Can't wait to do some practical work with our sounder. Loved seeing the screen shots with all the fish.
  10. I'm right handed. My spinning reel is set up to wind with my left hand and when I fish with bait I wind with my right hand. Weird, but it works well for me.
  11. We used baltic minnows back in the 70's & 80's (still have a couple in the tackle box). You thread your line through the centre of the minnow add a plastic ball to stop line abrasion and tie on your single or treble hook. Good luck with your trout fishing.
  12. My advice would be to go to Steve Williamson shop near the caravan park in Jindabyne and have a chat. He is always happy to let us know what is working at the time. Don't forget to give plastics a go. We have caught nice trout using Squidgie Wriggles Rainbow Trout pattern. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/uploads/post-1141-1211723786.jpg Caught trolling This one I spotted and after a couple of cast it attacked. Great to see in the crystal clear water. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/uploads/monthly_05_2010/post-1141-127478003246.jpg Don't forget to take the family to the trout hatchery. This was taken in May as they were schooling ready to spawn. Hopefully there will still be some hanging around for you to see. Good luck and enjoy your trip Lyn
  13. Good on you Dorothy. My husband use to bait my hook and release my fish - then he woke up. I was catching fish before he got his line in the water. I rig, bait and release myself and still manage to out fish him on most outings. He does at me though, I either eat or bait up with plastic gloves on. I can't stand eating with smelly fingers, yuck.
  14. Thanks for all your hard work Hodgey. You have done a great job. More time for fishing now.
  15. Happy Birthday Fishraiders. Thank you to all who make this site possible.
  16. All good now. It was bad at the time but once the hooks were removed and the anesthetic wore off no pain just a couple of tiny scars. No fish today unfortunately all getting ready to spawn. Chelub thanks for the congrats.
  17. We are on our annual fishing trip at Jindabyne and today I had a little accident. I was changing lures and caught my index finger on my left hand and my thumb on my right hand. I was well and truly hooked barb and all. Brand new out of the box very sharp lure, at least it wasn't rusty. Knowing I wouldn't be able to get it out myself or even get out of the boat we needed to call for back up. A 000 call for the ambulance was made. When they arrived the ambo said 'hmm not too sure how I can tackle that'. After some thought and local anesthetic he did a great job getting them both out without hooking himself.
  18. Thanks Stewy and Donna we really didn't expect anything and we're truely surprised to see you made us Gold Members. We're glad your kids like their new game Scratchie. I hope you play with them and let them win lol.
  19. I'll keep that in mind thanks Jack. I deleted my previous post as Geoff said the pajero door would still hit. Our Jeep door is a lift up one so the extension works for us.
  20. Thanks to Stewy, Donna, the instructors and helpers. Once again you out did yourselves. Geoff and I enjoyed the day even though it was freezing in the wind. You can always learn something new no matter how many training days you have been to before. This sites instructors/members are a wealth of knowledge and they are happy sharing it with you. Thank you all for your time and knowledge.
  21. Our pleasure Scratchie. The kids had a fun day and showed a lot of interest and potential as future anglers.
  22. You welcome Ian. It's great to see the kids out there enjoying themselves they are our future anglers.
