  1. Well done!! Nothing like the adrenalin rush when you hook your first Kingy. Looking forward to seeing your pics.
  2. Thanks everyone, it was very exciting. We will have to try our luck catching some Nepean Bass (it's a lot closer to home).
  3. That must have been a great surprise. Congratulations to your dad on his first hairtail catch.
  4. Bass tournament at Glenbawn Dam if anyone is interested. Ch 9 now Just noticed post time is incorrect. now is 11.11am
  5. I had a good grip on the rod as I knew they would hit hard. I was surprised just how hard though and I had to use both hands to lift the rod at times. It sure did hit like a freight train. It was fantastic feeling fighting to keep her from the trees. Once I got her clear of the sticks she headed straight under the boat - another challenge, keeping her away from the props. Every fish caught was in excellent condition. Thanks guys Lyn
  6. Some very nice fish there. Good report . We just got back from a few days there and we found them hard to find but once found and hooked they gave a very hard fight.
  7. Geoff and I arrived at Glenbawn Dam last Sunday to meet up with Stewy, Donna, Steve (Stewy's brother) and Julie (Steve's wife, this was Julie's first time). We quickly unpacked and went out for a fish, Geoff caught a couple of bass and I was unsuccessful. After getting back to our cabin and talking to the others I felt better as they said how tough the bass were to catch this year. Over the next few sessions of watching Geoff catch a few Bass I was very excited when I finally caught a couple both around 37cm. Thursday morning we went out to try to beat the heat I caught a nice fish on a long cast through some trees. I threw in behind a couple of dead trees on a rocky point and my spinnerbait got slammed buy a 44cm bass my PB. It fought a lot harder than I thought it would and after a few happy pics I sent it on it's merry way. As usual with our Glenbawn trip it was really hot during the days with a storm in the late afternoons. Each night we gathered to eat dinner together and exchange stories. Thanks everyone for making our trip a good one. Geoff said the mash was great. Until next time cya Lyn
  8. I spent the day with my daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and my sister at a Melbourne Cup function. I won nothing in the sweep, nothing with my Melbourne Cup bet, nothing on the pokies, nothing in the raffle but I still consider myself a winner as I had a great day and got lots of smiles from my granddaughter Zoe.
  9. Congratulations on your PB. NIce catch even if the weather was a bit chilly. Keep up the good work
  10. Geoff and I are away meeting our newest granddaughter Charlotte for a couple of weeks, so I haven't checked the forum till now. I noticed members photo comp is not listed. Has it ceased?

    Forum links

Thanks Donna I appreciate the links they will work well for me. I never have used the Outlook calendar I suppose I should. As far as setting alerts and notifications on my iphone I will have to buy one first . I think iphone5 will have to be my next phone.

    Forum links

I was wondering if some quick links would encourage people to vote in Fish of the Month and Photo of the Month. Sometimes I forget to vote because it is not right in front of me. I was thinking a pop up box on opening Fishraiders and/or a link in the banner 'Latest News'. Just a thought.
  13. Great fish! Super report! Remember, be a boy scout and be prepared.

    Dot virus

Thanks for all that info . I don't mind hearing of any proposed threats just in case they are correct. It took me 2 seconds to check that I was not infected. I bet PS3 wishes they had warning last year when they were off line for over a month due to hackers.

    Facebook

I personally don't think a Facebook page would be a suitable option for Fishraiders. I use both FR and FB on a daily basis and I believe there are 'horses for courses' and each site have their uses. I have been trying to think of a reason for Raiders to have a FB page and I really can't think of any. This site has been operation for (I think) about 6 years and its survival and growth has proved itself to be a very strong organised, well balanced and informative site.
  17. Congratulations on a fantastic catch. We too go to that spot every year but unfortunately the last 2 years we have missed. Last year I was in hospital and this year we were waiting the birth of our first grandchild. Your pictures and report have given me very itchy feet to get back down there next year. Well done.
  18. Sounds good. If I don't get to fish I might as well be taking photos.
  19. Congratulations! That's great for you two. You will love the Nepean area.
