well done mate i mite be heading out tonight for a jew session either by boat or land based

It was a clear n calm day at Avoca, with very little wind and no big swells Ivan and i headed up for a fish, we rig up and i cast out set the rod down in the lil rod hole and bang it gets nailed, "IM ON!" reel it in for a lil sting ray, cast out again and gets nailed yet again for a blurter/trev into the keeper he goes when suddenly was like a cloud rolled over the sky and a dark shadow came over with a thunderous voice, RayR Appears from abova the ledge and yells out, "GET OUTA MY SPOT!" LOL And joins us for are fishing session Fun times were had i sorted out ivan's rig to mimic mine for casting distance and less snagging while Ray went home to grab his gear and on Ivan's first cast he lands a very nice sand flattie of 58cm which on its way up was attacked by some unknown and lost the top part of its tail and was bleeding when landed, into the keeper it went, and then as Ray returned armed with his fishing arsenal i decided to try for some blackies for a lil while with little success landing only one 24cm blackie nad 5 cocky's >:/ while fishing for blackies Ivan lands a very nice n fat chopper tailor of 47cm, so i went back to casting out the big rod for more bottom bashing landing a nice lil banjo after tuning him up i rocked out with him for a photo, soon after Ray was on! with some nice lil aerial acrobatics up came. This lil sambo With a few more runs and snags and few more blurters, Ray also hooks up onto a Banjo and poses for the next image. While Mr Cool Dude banjo was fixing his hat for the photo Ivan hooks up onto another SAMBO! Things went quiet for a about 5-10 minutes which was a little odd and the Ivan gets a HUGE run which is what Ray was calling for a Eagle Ray unfortunatly it came off so we did not see what it was Within minutes however i was sitting and holding my rod when i felt a lil tap and then BANG Massive load with drag peeling off my rod starts buckling over trying to keep what ever it is off the bottom with a 5-10 minute tug-o-war and various swear words ray mentions i now have an AUDIENCE and i turn to see 20+people standing on the ledge watching me fight what ever this is, the nitro BUCKLES over like i have never seen/felt before, I was enjoying every minute of it it went toward the rocks and i was worried i was going to loose it to a snag but i managed to gain control of it, Well at least some control, i could feel the tension in the line and let some peel off with a lil less drag and then controled the drag with the palm of my hand after a long tussle i managed to get it in closer and started to see some colour which we all thought was a big eagle but no it wasnt a eagle ray it was something else it goes out for yet another lil run i soon gain control yet again and bring him closer and BOY WAS I SHOCKED to see the SIZE of this STINGRAY! Ray Estimated it at around 30kg! it was the size of my dinner table at home ! we got it to the side i was going to bring it up with a wave but would of been almost impossible with its size and weight we managed to get it in at least with the crowd applauding we cut off my hooks and set the monster free, i then relised how BUGGERED I WAS AFTER THAT and appreciated every minute of that fight, i would have to say it was probably the best fight i've had fishing off rocks EVER! and all this on 30 lb braid !! i was so glad my knots all held up, and everything went as good as it possibly could have got! after that however i could not cast in no more as it really took it out of me haha with only few pillies left we finished them up and started to pack up ending the arvo with some really nice fish and GREAT TIMES had once again with great company at Avoca !! some more lil happy snaps taken:

jewies mate targeting them is easy catching them is hard its only taken me like 10 years to finally catch 2 on saturday!

well done pete and ray where abouts did you guys go ? just the usuall avoca rocks? i was going to head up there today but with the northerly winds i was a bit hesitant

both were on pillies i had few squid chomped in half missing both hooks though and also one occy was on caught on squid other on pillies and one i droped at the end of the night was also on pillie

Hey guys, ive been chasing the illicit jew for what feels like forever with no success so ive been heading out every saturday with my mate IVZ350 "Ivan" to hunt the jews of georges river now we've been for chasing them for every saturday for 3 weeks now and each time we had lost the jews at the boat and one wrapped around the burley pot n free'd, But this time i had figured id get a new net with a longer handle and wider net, So Ivan and his mate bazza and I headed out to sylvania hole in the wall at around 3 in the arvo yesturday no boat traffic weather looked to be clearing a lil bit and the run off tide had just started, launched the boat got out to capt cook bridge and started to pick out a hole on the sounder found a nice lil hole under the bridge awaye from wind+rain if weather changed so we were cheering. Started a lil burley trail, dropped in our lines and the wait began about 30-40 mins in we Ivan pulls in a big octopus after beating its head in a bit (or tenderizing it) it was safe to put in the bucket without it crawling its way out. With heaps of runs and missed hookups we were about to give in and sound out another holeso we gave it another 15 mins, 4 minutes into that 15 minutes my Exceller starts screaming!!!! IM ON! I YELL, After a short tussle i see some colour and a big mouth out of the water about 5 mtrs away and i start thinking big flathead? Ivan says NOPE ITS A JEW he could tell by the eyes! as it comes closer i see its purply pinkish silverish colour we net him up on the deck she goes AND HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND MY FIRST EVER JEW!!!!!!!!! i had a massive smile on my face all night after that we measure him up at 68cm and est weight around 4-5kg it was FAT! into the esky that one goes after few snaps! then my bait runner starts to sing so i grab that and set the hook another JEW! but a 50cm soapie still a keeper with the net on its way in i say bugger it and just high stick that one into the boat as it took the heaviest outfit with 60lb braid and 80lb top shot with 60lb leader, i figured it didnt really have a chance and as that hit the deck the hook came out and i relised how close i was to loosing that, so the decision to move was now void, with few hrs passing and a heap of runs i manage to hook up another octopus only this time this occy was a lil greedy and grabbed a nice blue swimmer crab on its way up n killed it! Ivan grabs the net and nets him straight away before the occy could drop the blueswimmer and landed 2 for the price of one! I took home the bigger jew and ivan took the occy's and the 50cm jew n the crab as i was happy enough with just that one! Ran into my house at 3am got into my room carrying my jewwie in hand with my wife still awake i show her my prize and get yelled at for dripping blood n stuff across the house HAHA So, i have ripped the 2 lil jewels from his head as a small trophy from my first ever jew!!! PICS WILL COME AS SOON AS I HAVE RECEIVED THEM FROM MY MATE AS I FORGOT MY CAMERA *DOH*

i reckon each person needs to net own fish in this challenge im just gonna high stick every sucker i hook on to lol coz i aint got a net long enough

i got coloured braid as well and the colour does fade but meh as long as it can handle the strength it is suppose to im not worried about the colour

Hey guys, with winter coming on im thinking about getting a portable outdoor heater to bring with me on the boat on night fishing trips just so i dont freeze to death does anyone know the differances and which ones are a more reliable unit that will produce enough heat to keep us warm enough?

i usually launch tie the boat to the ramp take the car to park then off i go :/ and same thing in reverse when bringing it back up if your son can hold it on a jetty/pontoon makes it easier and people can use the ramp as soon as you bring your car out if your worried about that but yeah i mean boat has to sit somewhere while you park
