Hey guys with the pirtek on sunday i figured id go grab some bonito from avoca on saturday morning to try out my new combo (Nitro Messiah 13' with Saltist 6500) i got there around 7:45am conditions were excellent started spinning by around 8:30 started landing bonnies 3 landed in 5 casts with 1 monster lost then slowed down till 10 and scored another 4 and 1 mack tuna which i swaped with somone for a bonito Lunch + some bait sorted for the pirtek brought my lil gas stove on the boat n cooked up the bonito was great sorry no pics camera battery was dead
  5. Caught heaps yesturday this being the biggest unfortunatly we did get heaps of bream, whiting, trevally, tailor and some pinkies. droped 3 flathead at the boat 1 being well over 60cm would of been my PB i mainly fished with SPs and some bait fishing as well my mate with worms, nippers, squid and chicken the flathead responded well to paddle tail plastics in a poddy mullet colour/shape.
  6. whoa what a day left @ 6am got home @ 7pm D: Landed 2 flathead lost 3 at the boat one being 60+cm all on SP's, about 7 whiting, 13 bream (5 legal over 33cm but they werent on our list ) and 5 trevally, spewing i lost the biggest flathead at the boat but hopefully this will get my mate something. all released
  7. well the lifetime insurance policy on the nitro is what got me into them and no questions asked if snapped $60 you get a new section. I've paired mine up with a Daiwa Exceller Oceano 4500 with roughly 4-500yards of 30lb braid but i was using a cheap shimano reel on it for a week or so while my exceller was getting serviced and that handled them fine 4000 size is perfect for them although i kinda wanted the Daiwa Sol 4000 with it as they go well together.
  8. i also have the nitro magnum butt 7ft spin ill be using that on sunday from the boat as well as my other brea,/flathead stuff this new one im gonna use for spinning from the rocks at avoca the saltist is going to double up as my jew/king reel as well with 60lb braid on a spare spool

    Which One?

i dunno much about those those reels but i can tell you what size to get for bream and thats a 2500 personally im thinking about getting a daiwa sol 2500 for my next breaming/soft plastics rod
  10. paternoster rig snapper sinker down bottom and 2 hooks above 1. i use 30lb main and 40lb leader for almost everything big usually put a swivel between the main and the leader so i dont get twists etc.. 2. 1's or 2's are fine 3. depends on current just need to get to the bottom 4. squid, pilly cubes, chicken n prawns for bait all work well, berley up with pilly cubes or home made mixtures
  11. ill be fishing both saturday and sunday on my boat for the pirtek im still unsure of whether im going to hit the harbour or just go for botany bay, as i know decent flatty spots in botany but the harbour fishes better.
  12. Hey guys been thinking about getting a new 13+ft spinning rod n reel as my current shakespeare rod has been killing me after 3-4 casts and ended up with sore neck and back etc.. and i;ve had that rod and reel for roughly 7-8yrs and got tired of it so today i went out and bought my new setup, I got yet Another Nitro rod. Nitro Messiah Spin 13" and combined with a Daiwa Saltist 6500 i think i better leave my bankcard at home next time i goto the tackle shop though set me back $800 with the saltist spooled up with braid. + other nick nacks i need for the pirtek comp this weekend
  13. ive had a run from what i think was a yellowfin at avoca about a month or so ago but everyone there who saw are saying differant lol i saw yellow and blue and it was 1mtre + and peeled 10kg drag like as if i had the drag at 0kg lol people were saying bluefin, i say it was a nothing coz i didnt land it
  14. i fish the georges fairly often as its only 10 mins from me so i even go after work on most days just to chillax on the water.
  15. that looks insanely fun wish i had 10g's to spare
  16. in new zealand their legal size for kings is over 75cm personally i think ours is fine i wouldnt want to see it at over 70cm to be honest but yeh this summer we had hundreds of rats caught but no hoodlums
  17. to fish raider Georges river - botany bay fish well i even fish land based at picnic point for whiting and bream as well but boat is by far the best anyway if you want bream near the bridges in georges river /botany bay usually come up with a fair few bream and depending on the bottom if its sandy can produce flathead and whiting as well, also the Hot water outlet in botany bay/kurnell side we got some big bream there last time. also coming from blue mountains you might want to try the hawksbury river as well im not that good around those areas
  18. i was there on monday also got nothing but i mercer had some really nice bream also another guy had bream and snapper all very nice size, i ended up going up to the entrance and mucked about with some bream on sp's

get a nitro lifetime warranty and no questions asked if it snaps you get a new one even if u snap it in a car door $70 n you get a new peice
  20. i caught one with no bait just a red long shank hook with red tubing above the hook guess it thought it was a worm
  21. basically same deal for me i use SP's for flatties as well as squid strips ill have one on either corner of the boat whiting is simple with "wrigglers/squirt worms" and long shank hook georges river seem to produce a heap of whiting lately ill let my wife fish for them lol shes got good luck with them bream well worms work well for them too i havnt managed many bream on sp's or blades but they did seem interested in the berkley MF50's so did a few flathead but nothing sizable. been going at it for few weeks now it seems i've found a few places for the bream, flathead i just do my usuall drift along sand flats usually produces a few decent sized flatty's
