  1. At 10 knots you will need a serious set up
  2. There joe yees, Generally cost around 80-120 when Joe was making them. As soon as he stopped they immediately became collector pieces and the price went through the roof. When you start catching fish on your own lures you won't run anything else I guarantee
  3. Just run them, there's a certain thrill throwing a $1000 lure over the transom
  4. So you want a lure maker to help you copy someone's lures?
  5. The gold might be an under bind, bit hard to be sure from 1 picture.
  6. One day everyone will be sitting around the campfire talking about what they did when they were young and stupid, People will talk about stealing cars, doing 200 across mooney mooney bridge. Fighting Maoris and so on. Then one dude will say "I stayed up making fake profiles on a fishing forum". Everyone will laugh and the guy will feel like a lost little boy
  7. And under load they bend in half so only retrieve a small amount of line each stroke. Good for muscling fish straight up.
  8. I've had a few different bream rods, and imho the harder and faster the better they feel in the cast and working the lure. The slower the better after the hook up. A light slow rod sounds good for squidding. The other sounds a bit like a "short stroker"
  9. He has 2 forms of propulsion though
  10. He's exercising his right to be stupid. Free country and all that.
  11. I was being diplomatic. And to continue being diplomatic I will add that a flood in June would be considered ideal by a very limited number of people
  12. This subject has been covered many times over the years, and although places and species vary; The general consensus of anglers is often not as positive as the information provided by the tackle industry
  13. This is the no maintenance thread. Can't help, I haven't opened or for that matter binned a reel in a long long time.
  14. 1000000% sure, I thought about 70%, benefit of the doubt goes to the attacking team
  15. I always liked to have 1 bigbait straight under the boat. As for 60cm live anything it's logistically pretty difficult, you really have to be lucky enough to catch one on site near the tide change. Other more realistic options are a 40-60cm tailor or mullet.xxl yakkas or slimies. Salmon will do. I generally butterflied these which will shorten them up a bit and make them smell more. Hopefully this will attract the fish towards your other baits rather than another boat nearby. After many many bigbaits I've had one eaten. But you can't expect to catch a BIG jewie every trip or 10.
  16. If you did all the maintenance recommended by the Internet you would be busy to say the least. Let's hear some no maintenance stories, wheel bearings- dunked reels, 40 year old line Harold. Feel free to start with "a mate of mine " if you're embarrassed. My daiwa excellor 2000 gets a hose spray at the car wash or under the tell tale if it's lucky, if it goes land based no chance. Nothing else in about 7 or 8 years. Never opened never oiled nothing. About 1 year ago it stopped being perfect, now it's getting a little unsmooth but I think it's a bent main shaft. Might do something about it in a year or 2 Edit, I do look after my motor and game gear like babies. Maybe slightly neglected babies.
  17. I mean "I heard " isn't worth much. I heard this week that the flatties are becoming more active as winter comes. Seriously.
  18. Where's the tuna Bermi, Long liners off loading some biiiig fish today
  19. *ive never run one. I reckon it will run like a keel weighted plunger, fairly straight and predictable. Which is good cos it makes for an easy to eat lure. It also means it won't carry a heavy snap and leader as well as a bigger actioned lure. 1 hook or 2 as you choose. I'd think short corner or rigger where there is some height to get it going. BUT, give it a go and if it looks right it probably is right. Let us know how it goes
  20. I heard there weren't any crabs there
  21. Gotta be in it to win it. It will take a while but the big bait will eventually get eaten.
