    Fuel Storage

not boat related but (I've heard a few times) don't run 98 in aircooled whippers and mowers, they run hotter and are worse for it
  2. It was countersunk with a drill bit, but still wore the leader. As cool as sexy heads are for mine the shape is what wins or loses, exhibit A moldcraft. Just make a few and give them a runand see what happens, if there was a proven formula we'd all have 10 lures not err, as many as we have
  3. eBay or bargain bin, its only a reflective weight.
  4. Mmm you will be handlining the last 3metres, not impossible but definitely will get interesting getting the rod into the rod holder then leadering and net gaff shot if you are solo. with scatchies rig you snap the lackey off well before you get the fish boat side, with my 1980s rig the knife jig/iron is part attractor part hart handle near the fish. Nice jewie rig though
  5. Looking the goods there! I found that the brass would put a slight bit of damage on the leader at the front of the head over a days trolling which concerned me enough to change to soft nylon/plastic leader tube.
  6. Do you use some kind of chafe tube inside the brass? I've given up on jets, too much mucking around, and here's my theory, the only thing going through those holes is water, especially on a slant or bullet. The air is held behind the head so pushing more water through will reduce the frontal area and action and reduce the smoke. For a cup face you can make an argument They look cool but.
  7. I cut a quarter at the skirt neck, I've found if I cut to much the mold can distort when you tape it up. Turn your phone upside down for a better view
  8. Well I said it is a bitch not impossible, admittedly I often fish how I want to fish for enjoyment, if priority 1 was taking home a feed I would make a few different decisions. But I digress, The degree of difficulty depends on if you can leave your boat in gear unattended for a short time and go straight, in the moorings is different to in front of the front cliffs, a squid is easier than a 10 inch yakka that's determined to go around everything. How sleep deprived you are etc As for your question, never used one BUT, if the boat can drive itself for a minute it would really help. My electric will work in the moorings and inside but in the backwash against the cliffs not so effective. So I'm back to the PMD
  9. Downrigging solo is a bitch, I've given up on it in my tiller steer. Another rig that hasn't been suggested is an oldie. It may have some deficiencies but you know. Mainline - monster sized knife jig in reflective or colour of your choice - leader @4-6foot - livie or squid. When you get your kingie to the boat you can grab your jig and whip in a rat or control a bigger fish.

    Paul / Rex

Ok, I knew there was something but happy to stay out of personal matters. And yeah I'm unsure about paul too

Are they father/son in law? PW does a wonderful job of showing how fishing can involve the whole family and brings amazing enthusiasm, I just can't stand him so can't help on your initial point though.
  12. I don't have sand to deal with, but nah, I never open them anymore.
  13. Buy them then don't touch them, ever. You'll be surprised how long they last with just a rinse and all the original seals left intact
  14. You test it and get a feel for how far you can push it. Then you tie good knots. Then present your bait or lure as best you can. None of this takes much time and no money. If you're about not caring whether you win (catch) or lose (walk of shame) but having fun that's fine. I've done both and know which one I prefer
  15. A 3-5 kilo rod is for 3-5 kilo line. So 1-2 kilo drag. But the only thing that can snap it is the angler.
  16. You can put 50 pound on if you want, but the rod won't be able to make use of it. Usually the (edit, lower) number is about right. Generally, you run the drag at 1/3 (mono) or up to about 1/2 (most braids). So 3keg try and pick up a 1litre bottle through the rod. Or put on your 10 kilo and pick up 3-5 kilos through the rod and report back. There's a bit of error in that a stagnant weight vs a moving weight is a bit different but blah blah
  17. Eat shit Melbourne. You don't deserve to win with cheating crap tactics and salary cap fraud
  18. Or you can put your lunch in a Tupperware style container and let it float around in the cold icy water
  19. All bom, Start with the understanding the 4 day synoptic chart and how and why a see breeze works and build from there
  20. 10 bucks your transducer is too low. It's gotta skim not gouge. Your lowrance will lose its depth range and get stuck on @ .4m. Solution- change depth scale to a depth range for a few seconds then return to auto. Google up lowrance elite problems for more info. Don't do it if you're busy Incredible hull seriously consider swapping it for something that works
  21. It's all ok, 30 years ago they were all 49cm with a 50cm size limit. 20 years ago you didn't bother trying to catch a king 1997 kingfish traps were banned and everything changed. 10 years ago they became more common in the just under and just over size. Big ones were still a bit of a rarity. And now the kingfish population is stronger than it has been in the 30 years I've witnessed . No need for more rules
  22. Targeting bream is kind of jumping in the SP deep end. Don't be in contact with the lure.Cast then finish with a sweep of the rod to lay the line from where it's sinking out to straight below the rod. Concentrate massively on the behaviour of the line on the water. If it does something like pull quicker, go sideways or stop where you think it shouldn't- that's your bite. Then jig it and let it sink again without being tight to the lure. Go lighter, bream are old and have seen a lot of stuff. You need to be better than the last guy. Go for 3 pound 4 pound leader, you're looking for the hook up, at this point losing a few is better than hooking none
  23. Nah, not that professional. Pour your resin into a cup, let it sit for a bit to allow the bubbles to come out, mix carefully trying not to introduce to much air. Some of the fast setting stuff is a bit problematic
