I have one reel I spooled and the material fraying does exactly the same thing but I bought that cheap off eBay since then I have a 2500mt spool I got direct from shimano and it has been perfect. I suspect my eBay batch is fake and may well be the same answer to your question.

OK Guys sorry about last week but maybe a chance to square up this weekend. Fell Swoop is running Saturday at Caulfield. Race 6 number 5. He is currently about a $3 favourite but if you have an account with Sportsbet they are doing a special offer of $4 up to a maximum bet of $100. Will probably be down at the Cronulla RSL TAB area to watch with a few mates if anyone wants to join us.
  4. There's some nice white sharks in the Lake Steve. I haven't fished there for years but you also want some local knowledge as the bar can be interesting to say the least. Have to catch up for a fish or a beer before you go anywhere.
  5. Witches hats are ok for Blue swimmers but if you're leaving a muddie in one for a prolonged period of time there'll be a tangled unusable mess when you get back. As for individual areas and legalities you can find info on the DPI website but I'm not familiar with that area.
  6. HI Donna, I ask in advance to not be controversial but plan to give my son a good fishing go during the next holidays and being 12yo he's not a member here but I do post his catches. I have avoided letting him sign up to forums for various reasons (which I'm softening on). Would he be eligible and I have no problem if you say no.
  7. Are you just talking about colour dyeing you line or marking a particular depth. When bait jigging areas like the carpark at Port Stephen I would just mark out 25 mt lengths and us a short bit of dental floss as a marker. You can also use a different colour piece of Dacron or hollow braid and bind the ends to make a moveable marker.
  8. The is nothing about it on the DPI website. Secondly if it's not a fisheries issue who would be responsible for it. As Stevefish said there is a bag limit on catching live cuttlefish so how could possession of the cuttle be illegal. Mr Squidy could be on the right track about the collection and sale for commercial purposes requiring some sort of licence.
  9. sounds almost stupid enough to be the law.
  10. In terms of quality and performance you cant go wrong either way but all my game gear is shimano and services and back up is second to none. So while I'll back Shimano to the hilt I cant say anything bad about Penn but it just the gear I use.
  11. Hate Sunday fishing but it does show the quality of fishing in the Port with all that traffic.
  12. I can tell you're excited about the Jewfish when a 49cm bream come as an after thought. That's a cracker.

Yes that was disappointing. She settled towards the tails of the field and wide the whole way and just couldn't overcome the weight in the trip home.

Sorry Bessel I missed your post . Unanimously finished at the tail. It was his first race after a long break due to injury and didn't wont to run him into the ground first up. He certainly needed the run and the whole raceday experience. Fell Swoop had his first attempt the Melbourne way of going and while he made a few mistakes still he won by 2 lengths and was backed in from $3.20 to $2.50 on the day. I have another one tomorrow. Sebrina running Saturday at Rosehill in the third. Much fitter after that first run and stepping up to the 1500 will help her. Personally I think she's the best horse in the race but will have to carry 60 kg from a wide barrier. Hopefully her ability and having Joao Moreira onboard can overcome the difficulties and see her right up in the finish. She opened at $16 Wednesday and into $9 this morning so obviously others like her chances too.
  22. I'd second the Silstar crystal blue tips too. But as I said even the retailer may give you a bit more of a discount knowing you bought there before and broke one. Brings the Silstar well into range.
  23. I'd certainly be taking it back and asking the question. Even if they give you credit towards an upgrade or replacement you'll never know if you don't ask.
  24. I believe the reasoning behind the rule was a again to remove any argument from the legal process. For example if you fillet your flathead at sea and you have a bag limit of 10 fish and 33 cm minimum length I believe you technically can still have 20 fillets provided the fillet is still 33cm long. Part of the issue is that the rules are written for everyone and while common sense may be assumed if someone is deemed to be breaking the law the rules need to cover every avenue for debate. It does cost a lot of money to prosecute offenders and there needs to be distinctions for a legal purpose. Probably why the tax laws are 35 chapters too....and people still slip through them.
  25. Terry the old deckie when we used to fish up north never knew their name just called them mother in law fish. They pull like a train and taste like rubbish. Soft mushy flesh but fun to catch.
