  2. What a top day; it's that sort of action that keep's one coming back. tight line's to you.
  3. Didn't know there was any dunes left out there, thought they had all been mined!
  4. Make's you wonder how unpalatable abalone divers are????? LOL.
  5. You can catch heaps of choppers, cowanyoung and trevally with metal slugs around Fort Denison at night casting under the lights. I'm sure any other well lit structure in the harbour would be the same. The lights attract the baitfish and the predators follow.
  6. Congatulations on an excellent video Mrs BF. What a great holiday, but where the bloody hell is North west Island?
  7. Sure is a shame about the wedding cake, At least some of it still acts as a fad, albeit underwater! Sounds like you guys had a great day in the end though, well done.
  8. Dude you can fish a life time and not learn everything. Thats the beauty of it and what keeps us all coming back!!! Good luck to you.
  9. No wonder I'm banned from cooking at home!
  10. RED ROCK COD recipie: 1.) Boil fish in a large pot with a brick until the brick becomes soft. 2.) Throw away rock cod and eat brick!!!!! Nah just kidding, they do cook up well.
  11. Hey Billy, I use 2kg mono with no leader although I usually tie a double. Although sometimes bream will smash a SP usually they will just pick it up very softly and mouth the lure. The only indication you get is the slack being drawn out of your line. Treat the fish like you are bait fishing when you feel this and drop your rod tip allowing the fish to move off with the lure. When the line tightens up just lift your tip without striking and 9/10 you will get a hookup. Takes a little while to get the technique right but once you get used to the way bream bite you will have better success. Also it's much easier when there's no wind to feel what's going on. Good luck, Rod.
  12. We were using an assortment of SPs but they were going crazy on 2" gulp minnows, and 2" k grubs. I changed over to 3" Squidgy bugs to try and avoid them and copped a whiting abt 40cm. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining as the fishing was fast and furious just out of the ordinary.
  13. Fished upper Cowan Creek today out of the canoe using SPs with mixed results. Between a mate and I we caught 8 flathead to abt 1kg, and 6 stud whiting. Only managed to hook 1 bream (target species) which I lost at the net. Never had such a good day on whiting before or done so poorly on bream????? That's fishing!!!!
  14. Yeh must admit most of my fishing is done out of a canoe so distance is not a requirement. However accuracy is. I manage about 10-15metres distance with 2kg line and 1/32 weight heads provided it's not too windy. Mind you I don't like fishing with a wind as I find you can't feel the takes which are often very subtle. Most fish I get take the lures on the drop or during a pause. I am mainly fishing structure of some sort rather than sandflats, I assume your fishing sandflats or dropoffs? Cheers Rod.
  15. Nice bream well done, I notice your using a fair amount of lead on the jighead. Are you dragging the lure along the bottom? I find we have much more success on big bream by using weights of 1/32 of an oz and less and dead slow twitching retrieves. Would be interested in your thoughts. Tomahawk1999.
  16. Fished the LCR for 3 little flatties and a half decent bream on SPs yesterday. Does any one have a toad repellant? We lost so many tails to the little buggers that it was getting expensive in the end. Other than that a top day.
  17. You can fish it from half tide down by wading.
