  1. Thanx for the reply and phone no. quinfish.
  2. Hey Iceman, What's involved in entering the Sydney comp? Would appreciate any info you could give me. Thanx, Rod.
  3. Hey Guy's, The bream came from under a boat in one of the bay's downstream from the figtree bridge. Not all the boats hold fish so you have to just keep trying different boats. Yeh they are healthy fish in the river (they fight great), I wouldnt eat them though with the dioxin scare. The Lane Cove is a tributary of the Parra river and we are told not to eat anything upstream of the HB. Cheers.
  4. Hey Boofhead she's a long way to go for a weekend, however not impossible if I can swing a couple of extra day's i would prefer to camp at the lake, if possible? Keep us posted after your recon. I would be bringing a punt so depth of water is not really an issue, We may be able to rope in some other raiders as well, the bearded goldfish do pull well and there's no shortage of them so it would make for a good weekend. Cheers Rod. P.S I'm sorry too about the hijacking Anti carp, maybe I could shout you a beer at the carp bash if it comes off.
  5. Congrat's on your first lure caught bream, it's an addictive and challenging way of fishing. Kayaks and canoes are a stealthy approach, Good luck in the future.
  6. You can get this square wire (bird wire) it's about 20mm hole size from Hardware and General at Brookvale, It's stiffer than chicken wire however you will still need to build a frame to support it. Should be ideal for finches.
  7. Hey Boofhead, Thanx for the invo, we may be interested. alway's keen for a carp bash. Lake Cargelligo how far from Sydney is that and how long does it take to get there? What camping arrangements are available? Can you camp at the lake? What are the boating regulations for this area? Sorry for my ignorance never fished anywhere near here. Don't like guiness either: but there are no emoticons sculling lager, so had to settle for the black death LOL. Regards, Rod.
  8. They are fairly hardy suckers. Your not wrong there, I have seen them in the Darling river near Broken hill and it was debatable whether the water was more dirt than mud! The buggers where still keen for a feed though! Quite like the idea of a carp bashing social. Anyone want to organise it?
  9. It's not unusual to have these little buggers grab hold of you when your out surfing reef breaks, have also seen lot's of them hanging around flotsam out wide. Usually when the waters warm. Little dolphin fish love them.
  10. What sort of birds do you want to keep?
  11. Fished LCR on sat in our leaking tinny Scored a couple of bream and 3 just ok flatties under the boats in between bailing sessions Even so we still had a good time getting out on the water Can't wait to get the leak fixed.
  12. Hey raiders I need to find a welder to repair a couple of leaks in my 12 ft punt. Does anyone know of someone on the lower nth shore who does this sort of work? Also any ideas of what it might cost? Thanx in advance, Rod.
  13. What's the go with the tail fin's? Do they have some sort of tail rot?
  14. Graphic example of the droughts effect Boofhead, living in the city we really don't have any appreciation of the effects it is having in the bush. Thanx for showing us how bad it really is!
  15. Congrat's on a nice bream, what a great place to fish; Coal and Candle is so picturesque.
  16. The octopus played that shark for a sucker!!!!
  17. South of Oberon, go through Black Springs and onto the Taralga road. about 10 mins out of Black springs you go over a bridge and thats the river below. On top of the hill on the LH side, as you go over the river is an old mining reserve and you can camp there. No amenities but pleasant enough campsites. Take a good sleeping bag as it get's cold at night even in summer. There are plenty of little creeks in the pine forest further upstream as well and all have rainbows although some are only 1m wide. Further down the road you hit the Abercrombie river which has both brown's and rainbows. A word of warning there are heaps of snakes (black, brown and tigers around these creeks so advise caution. Good luck let us know how you go. Rod.
  18. You can troll jetheads at 20knts+ But better watch your drag settings because a hookup at that speed is something to behold!!!

  21. Currarong: Makes me salavate and my legs shake!!!!!java script:emoticon('',%20'smid_16')
  22. Hey Dan, It would be interesting to do a survey and see how many raiders are in the same boat (pardon the pun) let alone the general fishing public with the parra river debacle. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth!!!! Regards, rod.
  23. sound's more like a military exercise than a fishing trip!!! Definetly worth the effort though. Hey outwide did you used to fish in SGFC????
  24. I have fished Little river at Porters retreat about 25 mins from Oberon a few times, skinny water but has a few feisty rainbows in it. I think it's spring fed as I have never found it dry.
