  1. I have had both my shoulders repaired, so i know what you are experiencing. Do the exercises but don't overdo it, put too much pressure on the ligament and you could tear it further. After the repairs it took me 9 months of exercises before it felt normal. Good luck with it Grandad
  2. These pics were posted on Facebook yesterday, and I was asked to pass them on to fishos in Port Hacking. Boat is in Gunnamatta Bay, Near Wharf near De La Salle Cronulla.
  3. Sounds like most of my trips down there, Its a long way to go in a sloppy sea for three flathead. But if you don't try you'll never know, and the view along the cliffs make it worthwhile. These are my excuses, when I go down there, It's never me. If the sea wasn't sloppy If the wind was a bit less if the current wasn't as strong if the barometer was rising If the bloody Jackets would go away If the Hump was a bit closer. If I had the right bait. Hope the other Raiders have better luck at the weekend
  4. Not worth fishing for, just a pain in the butt. Lost about 10 rigs on Tuesday for two flatties.
  5. Welcome home, Stay with the Port, The Jackets are on the chew again outside.
  6. After that I would sell the golf clubs and stay with fishing,
  7. Good catch well done. Looks like an unusual way to slit them open for cleaning.
  8. As suggested by mrsswordfisherman earlier on this site. Try the new Marine Rescue App, it has just about every fishing spot ever known, Just be wary of the 6 boat ramps about 50km offshore. Long way to walk on water after parking. Grandad
  9. That famous last cast, if we could just string a few of those together. Well done on the fish, makes that extra bit of effort worthwhile. Always good if the kids don't get bored, and could have been a lot better if it hadn't been for the weed. Grandad
  10. If the swell is less than 1 metre and the wind is low, Ideal conditions for my little boat, then I get the urge to go. We may have a trip down there together sometime. Grandad
  11. Hi Raiders Haven’t fished since June due to Surgery and health issues, now that I am feeling a little better I thought it’s time to fish again. So prepared the boat, new wheel Bearings, New globes in trailer lights, fresh fuel, old fuel used in lawnmower. Replaced fresh water that I keep on board, washed the lifejackets, fitted new all-round white light on a 1 metre stem. Charged Batteries and ran both motors. Needed a new impellor in auxiliary, so fitted that and everything was OK to go. Left Yowie Bay at 5-00 am, logged on using the new marine rescue app, went straight out to the middle grounds, set up the rods and fished till daybreak for zero results. Trolled to Marly headland for same result, finally found some flatties in 45 metres of water, would only take squid, nothing on prawns or salted tuna. Lost a few rigs to jackets but managed a nice feed anyway. A storm came up and blew me back in early, not a nice feeling being out there in a tinny with lightning flashing. Once back in the port I logged off from marine rescue. Felt good to be on the water again after nine months. Grandad
  12. Good catch, Thats enough to make Yowie jealous. Grandad
  13. Haven't been fishing for 6 months, due to shoulder surgery, and just as I am preparing the boat for my first trip out, The doc informs me that I have the big "C". Over Christmas I had successfull surgery to have the cancer removed, but once again, I have been put on hold. Fishraider is the only thing that keeps me going untill I can wet a line again. We are not all lucky enough to fish weekly. I Look forewards to the regulars, I feel as if I know them personaly. There is nothing Stagnant about this site, keep it up fellas, I will join you when I am Able. Grandad

    Edible fish.

Best not to eat fish caught West of the Harbour Bridge. Go to this website. http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/info/syd-harbour
  15. This map was posted by Paikea back in July 2013. Do a site search or try the attachment. Hope this helps Grandad Burrill Lake.pdf
  16. Using Google maps, Right Click in the general area. You don’t have to be close. Left Click on What’s Here. Then edit the Co-ordinates shown to the ones that you want. Don’t forget it should be -33 Then hit the search button, and it will take you to your new position. The co-ordinates that you gave put you near a wreck in saltpan creek. I do not use Google earth but it should be similar. Hope this helps. Grandad
  17. Got to be proud of that one, thats one hell of a Mackrel. Well done

    Enjoy

The rain was pouring and there was a big puddle in front of the pub. A ragged old man was standing there with a rod and hanging a string into the puddle. A tipsy- looking, curious gentleman came over to him and asked what he was doing. 'Fishing,' the old man said simply. 'Poor old fool,' the gentleman thought and he invited the ragged old man to a drink in the pub. As he felt he should start some conversation while they were sipping their whisky, the gentleman asked, 'And how many have you caught?' 'You're the eighth,' the old man answered.
  19. The public moorings usually produce lots of Pike Eels, caught quite a lot when I was moored there. Wire traces are a must, had a few on the boat and left them till next morning, went to salvage my hooks and the "B" reared up at me, and one of its teeth pierced my thumb nail, so be warned. Doing an autopsy later in the day all of them had hooks inside their guts, recovered quite a few. Cooked one up on the BBQ, full of bones and after one taste it went overboard. Used them in the crab traps for a few swimmers, so they were not wasted. Used the dingy to fish the slack water behind the headlands, caught some jewies on the run in tide using this method. Grandad
  20. Hi Adam Great read, felt as though I was there with you. We can all be smart after the event, but it is called learning and we never stop, the smart ones amongst us learn quicker than the others, these are the ones that catch more fish, you now know where you went wrong, don’t do it again, taking short cuts leads to disaster. In consolation all of us have been there done that, all part of the learning curve. Hope your next report has pictures of the one that didn’t get away. Grandad
  21. Well done on the Fish, Good excuse to buy the new I Phone grandad
  22. Thanks for all the time you have put in over the past years. You will certainly be missed on this site. All the best wishes for your future. Grandad
  23. Last time I stayed at Yamba, we caught some nice Blackfish just on the bend of the southern breakwall. The water flow forms an eddy of sorts there, both on the run in and run out tides. the fish were just on the edge of the flow. Didn't try for anything else. Grandad
  24. The Port is a bit Quiet at this time of year, not a bad catch but it sure beats working.
  25. You'r doing quite well to get onto fish first time in that area. Let's hope you can repeat it tomorrow. Cant beat the taste of fresh Flaties. Well done.
