  2. Hi John Welcome to the site, I have read some of your reports elswhere. Brings back memories, I once went Tope fishing, enjoyed catching the Mackerel but spent the rest of the day supplying the burley Kissed the ground when I got off the boat, no tope were caught that day. Waiting to hear more of your exploits. Grandad
  3. Some nice Tailor there and not all that bad to eat if eaten on the same day. I know what you mean about the small Jackets . Had to change to a small size 6 long shank worm hook to get them but they were too small to keep anyway. I'm off the water for a few weeks 6 in a sling, Always look foreward to your reports. Grandad
  4. Stayed at Tea Gardens once, Caught some Blackfish off the wharf there. Plenty of facilities, Hope that helps. Grandad
  5. Between Jibbon headland and the Bommie used to be like a car park. Pulled a couple of good Jews out of there. Same at Osbourne Shoals.
  6. Have caught them, but infrequently. Don't seem to get the calm seas anymore where I used to fish all night. And they seem to move around, dont seem to catch them on the same reef on consecutive nights.
  7. Left the wharf at 5-00am, a lot of floating debris in the water, I took it steady till I got to open water. Sea was too sloppy for my little boat to get up on the plane, took it steady to the middle ground, Caught 2 Teraglin one undersize, First light saw me moved on by the toothy tackle stealing critters. Stopped at the wanderers, and was kept busy with lots of Sweep and a few very small Nannygai. The sounder was showing Fish everywhere but I think it was all small baitfish. Went for a troll and picked up the Stripy just before the Wave Rider Buoy. Turned around and tried a few spots off the Lighthouse on the way back, plenty of Butchers and Flower pots but no keepers. Stopped on the sand off Cronulla for 2 Flathead. One spat out a small Flounder, the Trag had what looked like small puffer fish in its gut about 10mm long. Nice day out but not much for the table. Back at the ramp for 12-00.
  8. Another good feed, I'm trying tomorow, hope the jackets have moved or got bigger.
  9. With your persistance it's just a matter of time before you hit the jackpot Keep trying and good luck Grandad
  10. Have a good time but watch out for Crocs. Just heared a man was taken out of a boat at Kakadoo. Dont rinse your hands in the water. Grandad
  11. Well done, persistance paid off
  12. hope you had a good holiday. Nice feed there you always come home with something. Looks like you will get your wish for some rain next week. May try again myself next week if the sees are flat and the wind stays down.
  13. Nice catch, at least the Jackets don't get you whilst trolling.
  14. "Yea" bring back Cracker Night, I still have a few packets of Bungers left from the old days. Would be good to scare the crap out of the grandkids and get my own back on them for once. But knowing my grandkids I would come out of it worse off.

    Audley

The new Wharf at Audley is nearly finished.
  19. Was a lot larger than a single fish. I thought it was unusual for slimy mackrel to be so close to the bottom but I pulled up three out of the school.
  20. Fill the Freezer I'd be happy just to catch one
  21. Left the wharf at 5-00, straight to the middle ground to check out the current and see which way we were drifting. Some fish were showing on the sounder but I only caught Pike, these were used as bait. There was a fair bit of wind and the drift was to the South East. Sunrise saw the return of the Jackets and they followed me for the rest of the day. Headed south stopping twice at two of my usual spots. Picked up one Flathead at each spot. At each spot I was moved on by Jackets. Further south I saw fish on the sounder, these turned out to be Slimy Mackerel, more bait. Keeping a lure out between spots provided me with the Stripy. Plenty of fresh bait now. Stopping at various places and trying different depths, I just could not get a bait through the Jackets, losing rig after rig before reaching the bottom. In desperation I changed to smaller long shank hooks and caught a few of the little blighters. The wind picked up about 9-00am and I started to head back, the wind started to ease before I reached the Port, but at every place I stopped it was the same story. Pulled the boat out at 12-00, not the catch I wanted but a still a good feed. Not sure what these were in Yowie Bay Some fish showing Sunrise School of Slimy's Final Catch Less all the pink rubbish and bait fish
