  1. Try Reflex equipment at Taren Point or Wetherill Park we use to purchase w/proof boxes off them for our rescue equipment Found a link to drums with lids http://www.reflexequip.com.au/list.aspx?De...1&SubCat=45

  4. I went through this about 10 years ago I ended up night fill stacking shelves at Woolworths back then paid $21/hour I started with 4hrs a week and ended up doing 16hours a week. I did this for 5 years it helped us get ahead Pete
  5. not at all, they are mounted high enough and being a Haines its a pretty dry spot. I make sure that the drags are nipped up to prevent water entry. They are strong on a trip outside generally have 1 TLD15 and a 25 and 6500 Baitrunners in them. Pete
  6. I went through this some time back I did like the looks of an overhead but Height became a problem getting into the Garage so I went with cabin side mount holders one on both sides Pete
  7. Looking at the pictures provided the cables are way to short and the radius of the bend into the engine way to sharp. The cable should be at least another 5-600mm longer. The cable shold pass the engine and form a clockwise loop into the cowling with a diameter 4-500mm. I will try and post a picture soon. Pete
  8. No where near as often as I would like to. The and work just can't see the need for me to have time off to pursue piscatoral happiness
  9. I have been watching this thread grow and there has been some great ideas on the practice of fishing but what about boating as well. My thoughts would be along the lines of safety, How about a presentation from the emergency services on safety equipment/radios/EPIRBS search and rescue etc. OR There are a lot of new boaters out there asking a lot of questions about why my boat lists to one side and why my boat digs in or why does my trailer do this. How about some of the more experienced boaters give them a hand and a bit of their practical experience. This sounds like it may be a logistical nightmare with the number of members on the board but this would not involve every member, only the inexperienced ones that need help. If enough people are interested maybe a day session involving a BBQ lunch. I would be willing to impart my 30 odd years of practical experience. Pete

  15. I log on with The Local Rescue organisation every trip I make outside. One thing I do when I am crossing a Bar especially at South West Rocks make contact before crossing the bar and when I get into clear water to let them know I am out safely. At SWR the Coastal Patrol does not have clear vision of the bar, and if you come to grief it could be some time before some body notices help is required. I have both 27Mhz and Vhf on my boat and before I venture out of a new location I visit the control room and log my details with them, ask which freq they prefer, get their telephone number and question them on what to look out for what line to take etc. Most of the rescue Organisations offer courses in the use of Marine Radios how to use them and licence testing, you can find the information on their web sites Pete
  16. Sorry for the delay in answering my computer was terminal with a virus. I would estimate that it pushed it along at about 20-25kph the boat I was in travels at about 34kph that is off a gps. 17. The Navy use Yanmar Diesel Outboards on their General Purpose boats and inflatables. I can not comment on performance I have not personally used one. But I was involved in a training exercise on Sydney Harbour and the Navy was involved. I was in a Clark Challenger 4.29 mts with a 40 hp Johnson (NSW SES flood rescue boat) and the Navy had a similar Hull a Clark Abalone 4.5 mt with a Diesel 28hp. The overall size of the motor was about 1-1/2 times the size of the Johno it just seemed to go all day on the smell of an oily rag only used about 30lts against the 60 lts I used. Not the best motor for speed but would be reliable and economical Pete
  18. I have a Hydive system on the Haines and have only needed to bleed it once in 4 years. I had a squelching sound and just topped up the fluid and fixed it. To bleed it is generally a 2 person job. 1st person to keep enough fluid flowing into the pump while turning the wheel 2nd person to crack and reseal the nipples. I think I still have the instructions in the garage if you want I could copy and email or fax them to you. Pete

    Buoyancy Foam

Try Dion Chemicals I think they are at Brookvale or Dee Why. They do all sorts of floatation foam and make blanks for surf boards Pete
  20. I understand what you are saying, how about a new topic header in the General fishing section Workshops or something similar?? Pete
  21. The way I cook them after a quick clean score skin with knife along the body smear some butter over each side and some in the gut cavity place a piece of lemon on each side then seal up the foil, you can then place it in an oven or weber style BBQ or straight on to a hot BBQ plate. This in effect steams it in its own juices. check after 5 mins to see if cooked through, it does not take long because the fish is not that thick. I use this method on any fish just the way I prefer to eat it. Pete
  22. A question for the Mod's, I was just looking at the Calender function, is there any way that you can change the font to a different colour for activities looking at the Kingfish social it does not stand out from the B'days. This maybe a good way to hi-light activities and futere w/shop days?? Pete

    Props

You should use a prop puller over an angle grinder or you try tilting engine all the way up and soak it over a couple off days with penetrol or what ever lubricant you have but give it time to soak in then hit it with a rubber mallet on each blade Pete
  25. A mate of mine has been getting Kings down at Scotland Island around the moorings a lot of small just illegal size but he managed to get 3 over 80cm on Thursday Pete
