  1. Hi Gents, I would be interested in that also. The misses lives in randwick and i live in the western suburbs however that's not my handicap. I just generaliy need a days notice as i would drive 4hrs for a good meat pie, even further to fish . I haven't fished off coogee before however have read of people catching flathead there which is more than edible if you can land one. Cheers Pete.
  2. Hi Guys, I have heard this from the tackle shop re: braid and sand dont mix but the only drama i have has was using a running sinker on braid and i guess now that i think about - it's a no brainer as the braid starts to chafe. However i am starting to put 10m or so of mono on the end of the braid but am yet to to go out and try. I just love the sound that braid gives off when it goes zZzzZzzzzz, can't beat it. Cheers Pete.
  3. Hell Yeah, some people specifically go out targeting squid and don't get any - you 10 points for luck especially on old servo prawns, how's that ? Cheers Pete.
  4. Nice P.B. for the bream, bet he fought the whole way in !! Impressive Cheers Pete.
  5. Impressive catch boys, fun had by all. Cheers Pete.
  6. Hi Phil, haven't heard of that brand before however only being a short rod, how will it go do you think casting wise if your going to be chasing possibly tailor / salmon ? A friend can outcast me with his 9ft rod and o/h combo - just don't know how !! Cheers Pete.
  7. Hi Mate, I have looked also and could only find ocean storm which is down kiama way i think however have a limited range but might be abe to get what you want. Cheers Pete.
  8. Hi Ray, Pending how clumsy you are if at all. I have dropped a couple of graphite rods on the rocks and it doesn't do them any good. You can get a glass rod in the aerowave range for about half the price if your only starting out. The convenience of the one you mentioned is it is a 3 piece rod and easy to carry. I recently bought the light surf aerowave in graphie composite for bream and the like and it's a good rod. The graphite composite range of rods is priced in between the graphite and fibreglass range of aerowave rods. Okuma x factor are a great rod also which are graphite and equipped with fuji guides and reel seat. Cheers Pete.
  9. Nice looking speciman their boys, Impressive. Cheers Pete.

Yeah, i think that's right. Fishing low tide would be advised from what i have been told as even low tide the waves crash up onto the rock ledge. Fish safe as your a long time dead if you slip and hit your head !! Cheers Pete.
  15. Hi Raiders, My name is Pete, i have been fishing on and off for most of my life (almost 34) the way dad showed me how - ganged pilchards with a running no 9 sinker. Had many fishless trips shivering on the beach with sand being pelted against my legs when it was windy being the worst memory however the first fish you ever catch is always one of the most memorable. Until that time i thought only the lucky ones caught fish. Slowly branching out and trying new things with fishing i.e. baits, lures / plastics as dad the old dog refuses to try anything new !! I work with hydraulics and cover the sydney metro area up to coffs and the travel is great - anyone ever in coffs, go to fishing tackle australia ... it's huge !! One thing i have learnt is that a happy wife = a happy life, you can use your imagination from then on as the possibilities are endless. I dig old holdens, eh's being my fav and currently restoring a wagon & sedan (early stages of strippig down). And Mum - you make the best maltese pasta going around !! Keep living the dream you'al Cheers Pete.
  16. Top looking bream there ABC, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel !! Cheers Pete
  17. Matey, i use the 6500 for a bit of bottom bashing and jigging and had no dramas over the past 1.5 yrs. Pretty strong reel. Just give a little tlc after every use and it will be with you forever. cheers pete
  18. Sounds like your really living the dream there getting the best of both worlds - what more could you ask for !! cheers Pete
