  1. Deep Creeks a strange place to fish.. There are a few nice bream and EP's in there but not always easy to find. The best way to fish it is from a yak though.. Maybe some lightly weighted SP's would be a better option? Cheers, Tom
  2. Sounds very promising for summer! Hopefully a few hoodies come in too! Sugarloaf will be one of the first i explore on the yak..
  3. Should be good to go then! If your fishing tight structure for bigger fish then upsize to maybe 60lb leader.. Good luck!
  4. Good choice on the SP's. The 6" S zman swimmerz are good for the bigger fish but the 4" is perfect for schoolies and big flatties! I would certainly consider using braid though... Much better for lure fishing than mono.. Cheers, Tom
  5. The Ovens at South Whale Beach is a good spot. Snapper, Salmon, Bream, Trevally and the odd jew this time of year. SP, spinning, livebaiting or bottom bashing all work.... If you went back in a few months you would have bonito, kings, mack and longtail tuna, spotted macks and the odd cobia or Amberjack!
  6. You have no idea how much this report excites me! The next month or so ill be fishing MH hard with live squid, yakkas and plenty of SP in hope of a few kings! Great to see a few legals showing up already! Which part of MH do you get him? Cheers, Tom
  7. By the sounds of you'll be fishing baits for jews and big flathead am i right? I'd be looking at Middle Harbour if i were you. Very deep area with some great spots! The best for anchoring up overnight would be around Sugarloaf Bay, Pickering Point and near the Spit. Sugarloaf Point is generally okay for Jews and flatties this time of year. Just sound around and find a nice hole or drop off. Yakkas can be caught around Balmoral Island fairly easily with a little burley. Squid in the same area but if you specifically want squid then Middle Head is good. Good luck! Tom
  8. Great stuff mate! If it weren't for you those 5 guys may have lost their lives aswell! Good job on the fishing front too!
  9. Great to hear mate! You won't regret it! Will let you know how it goes!
  10. Can't help you out reports wise but just picked up the PA 12 today... Don't think i've ever been so excited! I'll have to test it out on the weekend. Did you end up looking into one yourself? No shortage of spots kin Sydney for yakkers! Got a truckload to hit up in the next few months, mainly in middle harbour! Bring on the kings! And Jews! Tom
  11. Jerusalem Bay is generally pretty good. You have to move around in cowan though so if your not getting fish after a while then move on
  12. Flatties should be waking up, the usual tailor and salmon should be around as well... Jewies are ok in Spring with smaller numbers but better quality. Bream should be biting as well! Tom
  13. 3" is certainly too small... you can get away with 4" on small schoolies but as previously mentioned 5" + is recommended. The jerkshads are great, 7" especially! The Zman Swimmerz 6" and 4" are my pick though! Great paddle tail lure and dynamite on jews. The pending WR barra caught recently was on one of these! They also last ALOT longer than other SP's and are 10 times tougher! The squidgy fish 100mm is ok for schoolies at times also. Cheers, Tom
  14. what a haul! Dinners sorted out for a month!
  15. Should be a few kings for sure! Not long until there'll be a few dollies showing up off Sydney!
  16. Nice work mate! Gotta love rat kings on the light stuff! Great fun! Nice work on the flatties too! Might have a flick in MH tomorrow myself and see if they've woken up there!
  17. Looks like a Sergeant Baker to me
  18. Well done mate! Lovely fish! Shame nothing took the tailor because you know it would be decent if it did! Got my best jew on a live tailor a few months ago... I don't know why but late arvo low tide when the water warms up seems to be gun for jew/big fish on live tailor. You'l get some 70+ flatties on the tailor too! Keep at it and you'll get your jew! Cheers, Tom
  19. All the creeks and sandflats hold them. Around patonga you find a few but the best spots are the shallow flats in mullet and mooney mooney creek. Basically set them in less than a foot of water and burley up a bit. Mangroves are a good starting point too!
  20. Always a few trevs at balmoral this time of year. Often get them when getting my yakkas... The bigger ones are hard to stop around the pylons.. Should be some bonito and kings showing up there soon!
  21. Very true about the prawns. You see plenty of reports from the Hawkesbury area with people catching soapies/schoolies on prawns while bream fishing. Poddy Mullet are a good option too. No shortage of them in the Hawkesbury so it makes sense to use them as bait. Unless your fishing Flint n Steel or Juno, I'd forget about yakkas. Squid seems to be left alone once you get past the road bridge too... "Match the hatch" applies very well to the Hawkesbury.. Tom
  22. Work the shoreline for bream with blades and SP. If the banks are fairly steep then its better. Cowan and Berowra would be worth a look. Flatties in middle ground of the mouth and broken bay. A few also around Patonga if you fish hard. Not long until things heat up so keep at it and you'll find a few fish. Tom
  23. Generally i fish the woolies side but both sides can be fished for similar results.
  24. Interesting experience mate! I know what you mean about small pearlies. Headed out on a charter to the Barwon Banks off Noosa last year and caught at least 40 undersized pearlies... Have a go in the estuary if you get the chance. Jacks should be starting to bite and there's plenty of good bream, flathead and whiting down right at the river mouth. Cheers, Tom
  25. Certainly could be good for longy mate! On a calm day you could comfortably stand up and fish... I actually did a "DEMO" of the yak and its a great machine. Easy to use, foot pedals are great and man that chair is so comfortable! The livebait tank on the back makes it even better! I'll PM you who to talk to about them if your interested.. Tom
