    Karuah

The public jetty at karuah is good. You can get bream, flathead, whiting, flounder and the odd jewfish. Prawns and pilchards work well here. Burley goes a long way too!
  3. You fellas are lucky! Haven't had a salmon take my unweighted prawn lately.. although i did get a legal kingie at the boat ramp a few weeks ago on one! What time were you there?
  4. I noticed that yesterday too! I think it has something to do with the bridge pylons obstructing water flow. Strange though..
  5. Well done mate! Seen plenty of those buggers pulled out of there! They definitely go along was up the estuaries!
  6. Well done mate! Thats a big bonnie! Odd for winter... Where abouts were you? Near the spit?
  7. Sounds good! Does it work in Winter though?
  8. Cheers mate! Have seen a few monster flatties pulled out (biggest 89cm) . I'll have to give your trick a go sometime! Will it work in winter? I think the structure does act as a fad. The Bream, Tailor and Trevally were hard up against the pontoon and construction site. The hard part is turning their head straight away!
  9. Well done! Good session for low tide! I always find High Tide much more productive (except for jewfish) Where abouts were you fellas fishing? Lost a sambo at my feet the other day up near the ramp. Cheers, Tom
  10. Cheers mate, i'll give that a go! Never been particularly good with filleting flathead either though.. I often use them as a butterflied bait for Jewfish and Sharks. Snelled rig is the way to go with em. Mind you i've never put a butterflied yakka out that is more than 25cm!
  11. No expert on the beach but generally i'd prefer a high tide gutter for salmon and tailor
  12. user1829 is right, when using braid you need a leader. Generally speaking a rodlength should do. I really like power-pro braid. Suits the fishing i do and has good knot strength. You can cast a hell of a lot further with braid! A swivel can be used to join braid to leader but your better off learning a few line connection knots like the albright and slim-beauty. It all takes a bit of getting used to but since i started on braid a few years back, i haven't looked back!
  13. Cheers mate! If your going to come all that way i'd probably wait til the water warms up a bit. Too unpredictable atm.. Good spot when it fires
  14. Hi raiders, probably getting sick of my reports but i figured i'd keep em coming while i have time. Another opportunity presented itself today so i headed down to roseville for a fish. High tide was a bit after 3 today so perfect for a few unweighted baits. Headed to my favourite "honey hole" but it was out of action today. The pontoon had been moved by the builders and there was far too much noise. Opted to hit the bridge itself which i haven't done in a while. Had 3 outfits; heavy 50lb gear with half a squid for a passing jew, 20lb gear with whole ganged pilchard and the light 6lb stuff with a few prawns. The only rod to get any action all afternoon was the light stuff. Overall pulled in 1 legal tailor (32cm) , 3 Monster Yakkas (to 32cm) and a PB 38cm flounder. Not a fantastic session but at least i found a few. Never seen yakkas that size up at roseville before. Even though i found a few in the end, it was a pretty slow day. Anyone tell me how to clean and cook the flounder? Never kept one before so not sure what to do. Cheers, Tom
  15. If you have mono then i reckon go with a little sinker just so you can get a little distance. It really is one of those on/off places though so don't be surprised if you score a donut. Cheers, Tom
  16. Never fished there but there should be bream, trevally and tailor at least. A bit of burley should do well.
  17. Bad luck mate! Definitely a big bream. A mate got a few there the other night on SP. Bad luck buddy. Silly on my part as i forgot to add that for Bream high tide is what you want. Where do you set up camp?
  18. Once you get past the bridge the fishing seems much quieter. With the exception of a few Jewfish holes further up. The stretch of water between bridge and the boat ramp is the go. Easy access to the channel where you'll get Whiting, Bream, Flathead, Tailor, Salmon and the odd Jewfish. Good luck!
  19. Great fish mate! COTM for that one!
  20. You can get squid at roseville but they aren't all that common. Plenty of yakkas up near the boat ramp though!
  21. Bit confused here. Sounds like your confusing roseville bridge with spit bridge but it could just be me. Fish the grassy area on the northern side of the roseville bridge. Good luck!
