  1. Looks great. Get yourself one of those outboard motor extension handle to help u get to the front, and hydrofoils really help as well if the boat has cavitation. Now you need led lights
  2. Your right, kids loved it. It would just watch us cast out and fish. Your very knowledgeable to know what bird it was Linc. And thanks GoingFishing for that offer.
  3. The barometric pressure today was good, that may have had an influence on the fish. You must of had a fun morning with hooking up those fish.
  4. Nice feed u got there. They look very fat. We're u land based or on boat
  5. We decided to hit the Sydney Harbour yesterday rather than today to not get much boat traffic, but that didn't happen. At least it was a sunny yesterday. Tried first time launching at Five Dock Bay boat ramp AKA Taplin Park boat ramp, and it was full and squashy, we got there about 2ish and waited about 20 minutes, we are so used to Foreshore boat ramp plenty of space. Any how we proceed around Bradley head/Taylors bay and anchored there, started a burley trail and not long after my wife hooks up to a nice big bream. I reckon it was easily about 35-40cm, I tell her to put it in the bucket but she doesn't and puts it in the keeper net over the boat. about ten 10min later she goes to take a photo of it but the net opened up and it got away, we are all sad because we really were looking forward to the bream soup she makes, we continue and my son hooks up to a legal 23cm Tarwhine this time it goes into the bucket. Very hot we try and look for more shady areas but there are no fish there so we troll around to chowder bay with no luck. We then go back to Taylors Bay and an owl lands on our roof for a rest for about 30mins, the wind starts to pick up just like it said it would so we headed back in a rough bumpy ride to the ramp and as usual everyone has come back at the same time 35min later we are heading home. If anyone would like to share a good bream spot around Botany Bay boat based I would really appreciate it, because I really need that fresh bream soup wife cooks. I wont tell anyone if you want to keep it secret. While at chowder bay I notice these yellow markers, I think I saw 3, what are they? I'm guessing its the restriction area for the navy, but when viewing a chart there no where near the zones. I've looked all over the web cant find any info. Can anyone help in out here.
  6. Nice feed you got there. congrats
  7. Ok so here's the final part of the inflatable boat project I was doing. (I know a year later). I actually never really took it out because I just kept going in the bigger boat and this little project just stayed packed up in the bag. The only time I took it out was when I was going to sell it and needed to take photos. The guy who brought it really liked it. hope u enjoyed.
  8. No, I got that from Bais boating when they were open. $100 he charged supply, bend and weld the aluminum.
  9. yes, but it over hangs over the boat so no risk of getting burnt, so far. Only one clamp but that clamp can hold 10kg or more. The clamp is actually made for the Kuuma Stow N go BBQ's, a lot bigger and heavier than my one. Still a bit scary though I must admit. I think I'm going to put a chain strap to hold it if it goes over just in case. http://www.kuumaproducts.com/Grills_216E.html Only 1 Allen key to remove. Agree, definitely a market for them with small boats, I just wish I could weld aluminum.
  10. After seeing The Iceman's tackle storage box post, I decided to contact DM Marine so he could make me a BBQ mount/holder a day just before New Years Eve. What followed was one of the nicest guys to help me out in such a short period of time. Although the job was only a small one, Dave was very helpful and really went out of his way to help. I had already cut my own pieces out but Dave recommended he do it out of one piece. I was hesitant at first but the price he gave me was great and he said it would be better of. He told me to come back in an hour and it'll be ready, so I did and I was very happy with the finished job when I returned. Thanks Dave.
  11. Lol Good catch in this weather.
  12. At first I thought it was a Crested Hornshark because of the tail similarities but after more research it looks like a port Jackson for sure triangle above the pectoral fins. But it still looks like its got a bit of hornshark in it. Anyway thanks for the info guys and thanks for the heads up scratchie & Linc, next time if we get another one I wont be keeping it if its not that good of an eating fish.
  13. G'day raiders Headed out to Botany Bay with the wife and her sister on Sat about midday after work, a lot more confident compared to two years ago, still learning though, need to get out more. Wind was starting to pick up so we headed for shelter and fished until late. They used prawns and managed 4 legal trevally which ranged from 31cm to 35cm, many under size ones as well which went back, my wife even managed a Crested Hornshark which we weren't sure if we were allowed to keep them because they look like a port Jackson shark so we let it go, (better safe then sorry). on the way back we stopped at molly point and my wife got reef by something big, it was now getting a bit late so we packed up and headed home. Nice day being on the water just need to get out more now. Gotta love those shipping containers ships when they go pass so close.
  14. What a result, just awesome, nice feed you got there.
  15. We have been planning on going to Botany Bay with 3 mates of mine for a while now and finally the days comes were we can all make it. We launched about 5am, and headed straight around to the oil wharf, as we passed mollies point it was like a car park everyone getting live bait, so many boats. Anyway when we get to our spot we throw out some squid jigs and soon we start catching them. One of my mates (first timer) losses 3 of my squid jigs so he decided to just net the squids that we catch, as he's doing this he gets sprayed in the face with one of the squids damn it was so funny, we all have a good laugh and end up getting about 12 squids between us, and then it dies down. We decide to troll to Little Bay with no luck. Another mate catches a Slimy Mackerel about 30cm trolling a lure and that's it. We were really hoping for some surface action like Sydney harbor but it didn't happen, hopefully next time. The weather is getting hot so we head to Brown rock where a mate has a quick swim. After that we move around the bay with no luck so we head back to the ramp and man it was hot at the ramp and full as well. Nice day to be on the water.
  16. Good one scratchie, luckily you where there. I know your angry but try not to be. You have done a good thing. Remember you have the knowledge they didnt. About 17 years ago when I wasn't into fishing I knew nothing about the sea, swell, tides, and rips. I went to a place with friends and we went out waist hight for a swim. Next thing it starts to get chest high, we start to head back and it was only getting deeper neck high, soon one of my friend is drowning he can't swim, so I swim over to help him and he puts me under the water climbing over me. Luckily my other mate comes over and grabs us both, I recover and some how get back. My over mate takes the one that can't swim back. We didn't know we were caught in a rip and proberly the swell was coming up, I don't know. But since I started fishing I learnt what is swell, tides, wind etc, these people proberly didn't know s*^t about the waters. I know it's hard to understand they couldn't tell the condition which was so evident but people sometimes just don't know. It's education and maybe they'll start to understand or learn the waters, who knows , let hope they do and then educate there friends and family. Another time we were at Windang having a picnic and someone died rock fishing, the swell was up the wind was about 20-30 knots, you would be crazy to fish these conditions but someone did and lost his life. Because he didn't understand the waters. Even if it's in your face. Now if I see people heading into dangerous conditions or anything I don't shake my head I try the educate them. It's like learning to drive, learners see a hazard ahead but do they responded, no they head straight for it and then I've gotta brake. A red light and they ask do they need to stop even though its red and if they where the passager they would know they have to stop. But once in the driver side it totally different for them. With waters unless someone educates someone about the dangers they either learn through someone or something happens bad happens and then they might learn. These people if they continue kayaking and learn, one day will look back and say how the f*^k they went out with conditions like that, and will think of you for saving there life. Once again good on ya for helping them.
  17. Headed to Windang about a week an a half ago, nice day but wind picked up in the afternoon. My wife managed to get a one 40cm flathead while I walked around with the kids. Someone decided to light a fire lucky no one was hurt. Helped out 3 guys back at the ramp load there boat back on their trailer, it looked like it was there first time out and it was very windy, really hope the weather didn't turn them off. Sorry no pic's off fish but got this one of the fire, and this guy who walked over from Picnic island. It was really at dead low tide that day.
  18. sound like good service, good stuff, I'm gonna send some pic's and measurements to him to see if he can make it. Hope no job is to small.

  21. oh man, there's some big squid in the mix, awesome haul.
