  1. Terry Is that the trophy your in? congrats on the dolly first of the season Ive heard of A
  2. CHECK THE STRINGERS CAREFULLY If its been sitting with water in it then their is every chance they have rotted out and unless you want to end up like those nut cases off avoca on the weekend and have your boat split in half under you they will need some very serious work.
  3. read:- The Nats/Coalition is fully and publically committed to dismantling the RFA and license system to let the exisitng pros back into waters they were banned from.
  4. mate Thats a cracking effort for a young guy and the pic certainly shows it give him my congratulations. is it his first A
  5. thanks rich local or import? and WTF is an SVS 4X4 braking system when its at home
  6. Im in the market for a new light/ultra light low profile baitcaster current front runner is the daiwa TD Sol. Anyone got any reports on there performance especially on salt or does anyone have any alternatives worth looking at in this size range
  7. recieved this today and peed myself thought you guys might get a laugh too
  8. Bassifier like any spring the energy is stored in it and released when they relax. my issues with rec guides at this early stage is what happens at the ankle( the bend between foot and leg) when they flex. That little hard nugget bending backwards and forwards over my nice thin blank would have me worried. Also the increased sensitivity claim is just marketing. springs dampen feel and sensitivity not increase it. Id also consider the guide angle deviation under load on these guides they would have to throw your line curve out to billy o when loaded up. They would be excellent weight reducers though as theres next to nothing in them Regards underbinds single footed guides dont need underbinding as the blank flex across the foot print isnt big enough. As billy said if its properly ground and epoxied you wont have any issues with single footed guides damaging blanks. We both have enough sticks out there still going strong to prove this theory. Double footed guides are a different story as they are bound at 2 spots making them far more rigid and having a much wider foot print the blank flex under the guide is much greater thus greater potential for damage at either toe. In the case of ricks rod I wouldnt underbind the single footed guides for the above reason and even though its only a gram or two difference its still tip weighting which is something Rick is trying to avoid as much as possible
  9. not quite the looney tunes rods have springs steel guides not ti wire.
  10. No need to hassle with O/S orders and the myriad of problems that entails you can order the full HASTINGS range including there G-USA blanks through me. I can get it for you as a blank but Ive been building a heap up for members here and I had a few at the last social infact. I can get Hastings customised colours to if you are prepared to wait a bit. Ive even got the funky coloured guides in gold, electro blue and holo On LS supreme, nothing levels like LS but it is an agressive epoxy and Im surprised it didnt cause damage to your paint work. Ive tried a few different colouring emthods and automotive two pak is pretty good. Target also says Tamiya model paint is excellent as well with good strength and flexibility.
  11. as always the locals get the best waves cool pic and it would be an awesome experience
  12. 40,000 odd senate primary votes from 2 states! Thats just under 1% of the voters in those states that directly chose the FPY for a seat in the senate. No matter what the percentage thats a LOT of people concerned enough about our fisheries that they chose to have it specifically represented in the federal parliament. NOW THATS POSITIVE!!!! Good on you guys. Given the proven viability of this issue as a political cause I for one will be taking a greater part in it in the future.... Gotta have a win somewhere. Thanks for your efforts in making this a visible political issue backed by sensible, gentlemanly and most of all commited candidates. Congratulations on the great personal polling joe. The way I saw your result was that you beat or matched it with some surprisingly credentialled opponents.
  13. good luck tommorow joe hope it all goes well. Ill watch for your name on the boards seems your in a pretty contentious seat there matey. Dont know if its fair dinkum but read greenway had the most candidates for any seat in the country.
  14. when doing the quotes for pedro one of the prices I came up with for a rod to suit his specific needs was $285 ( or was it $290 pete) that may push your budget a bit when you add a decent diawa reel but still I think a pretty decent price for a Cork/Alconite, US graphite, custom rod designed to suit light SP's feel free to drop me an email and Ill see if I can make up a similar rod to suit your needs that lands in that price bracket. In the meantime you could checkout this site www.graphiteusa.com the United Pioneer P-UR66l is the blank I used for Pedros quote described above. not the one I ordered pete
  15. joe Mal is correct on the lib/nat front regards state fisheries management. its a case of whats the best worst case for our fish when it comes to the state majors. With all credit to both Mal and David penburthy's professional integrity though. Given that the Telly is blatantly coalition biased in this election( seen this mornings latham bashing headline) the call is yours as to whether you want to discuss private meetings with the a biased press. Then again with your prefs going to the coalition its probably in your interests. oh and remember the golden rule re the political press NOTHING is off the record!!!!!!!!! just ask gareth and whats her name LOL Finally I urge you strongly to heed my warnings at the start of your journey neither of the majors is gonna give a brass razzoo about your postion once the votes have been tallied. Your party and cause is a bigger pile of S*#t, and worth less, to the majors than even the eletorates opinion and we all know how hard they listen to the electorate when nestled into that first class seat down to canberra. They court you with a vile taste in there ever smiling mouths.
  16. joe on the submission form they ask for comments on a host of specific activites contained in div 8 and 9 of the draft zone plan Unless we come under the "other" banner none of these mentioned have anything to do with rec fishing of any type apart from spearfishing and possibly bait collecting. IF and only IF the draft plan actually canvases no restrictions other than those already implemented for rec fishing in the area couldnt this thing actually be good for us what specific implications does the draft zone plan have for rec fishing in this area and where can I find a copy ? I ask the question because rec fishing is a major issue for any MP application and as its not canvased as a specific issue on the submission Im keen to find out what they actually propose for us.
  17. waste of a fish then cause it was dead as a door knocker when I took the pic
  18. we do have a 1 only dusky over 70cm limit! which to me aint to shabby considering a fish like that is an out and out trophy for most danglers. Only serious lizard fishos would even have a remote chance of catching more than 1 fish like that a trip. And if they're that good they should know the reasons why they need to return them
  19. 5 on board a 5.1m allycraft freedom and one guess on who caught the croc
  20. whilst having a less than productive day at the social I watched these guys pull this croc in from the rail bridge specs were 89cm caugth on a butterflied tailor ufortunately I suspect it didnt go back. But hey weekend danglers are allowed there short comings on a trophy like that
  21. if your prepared to put up with breaks in your fishing and a v early start your more than weclome to come along with me to the box social on the rod front remember if your fishing 24kg braid you need 24 kg rod! a 15 kg rod will buckle under the strain of something big especially when it jumps on a jig.
  22. byron There are a few variables to consider like lure weights etc as skirts and big jigs have extremely different weights and performance charateristics so the rods suited for one may well be highly unsuited to the other. As a general guide look for something with quality HD guides right through as rollers and jigs donot go together. lenght around 6 ft- 6ft4in max range and full blown 24kg classes. You will need fast ( avoid V fast or mod ) action to counter your different needs but look for as sensitive a tip as possible. good luck in finding all that off the shelf cos you'll need it
  23. 7-8 ft is a WAAAAY to long to troll, jig or live bait with on any line let alone 24kg braid and if the wilsons your refering to are live fibres then they are a casting rod so are to soft in the tip for troll/jig and even pushing it for livebaits
  24. one thing else to remember is that 1L water =1kg
