  1. http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/2822363/new-offshore-reef-for-shoalhaven-heads/?cs=203 being built and dropped now
  2. I regularly get 6 spined LJ's off shoalhaven, decent size too, and top tucker
  3. please wear your lifejackets over the Christmas period, and at all times http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/bathurst-father-drowns-while-saving-daughter-after-kayak-flips-20141123-11s1nu.html
  4. bite one, if you scream, then its a hot chilli, if you don't, then its a mild chilli, if you die, dunno what it is but it's not a chilli Lol
  5. this sounds like the sort of stuff that need to be put forward in the review of boat licencing in the fisheries and politic section a section in the licence exam on how to behave at the boatramp
  6. how WOULD a council get rid of it? dredge it? poison it?
  7. a few months to 'bed in' and it'll be good, shame it is delayed though I wanted to give them a bash over xmas............
  8. Reply to my enquiry Thanks for your query. The fabrication of the modules is currently underway, with the estimated deployment of the modules likely to occur in late January (pending satisfactory weather conditions for deployment). Regards, Nathan FADs & Artificial Reefs Program Manager.
  9. interesting that labour were up in arms about it, when it was they that introduced the marine parks! oops politics , sorry overall some losses, some gains, not too bothered about it as I rarely reach a bag anyway (but getting better) more concerned about marine parks, as it makes it difficult sometimes to find a spot to put the boat as there are no painted lines on the sea!
  10. won't be worth fishing over Xmas if it's there then, it will 'smell' odd to the fish until its weathered in
  11. Hey Guys, I believe there should be a new artificial reef being installed off Crookhaven/Shoalhaven, but all I can find is the fact that is was planned for October 2014. is this still happening? has it happened? http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/2263171/artificial-reef-for-shoalhaven-heads/
  12. supposed to be good bait in seawater too, nice and oily,i have put the word out at work for fisho mates to bring carp and reddies back for me, going to coarse mince them and use them for cubing, and frozen in a berley cage. will let you know how it goes over xmas
  13. here is my instal,l bit of wood behind the tank will be replaced with something pretty, there is sticky foam tape where the tank rests on the paintwork
  14. I found that the lightweight irrigation fittings at the B wearhouse were the best go pricewise, though you may need a hose clip to secure, though with the low pressure involved you could use a cable tie instead, the tank came with inlet and outlet and I tapped a fitting in low for the drain and yes it looks a bit frankenstien. you can get a fitting male thread on end and barb t'other end for your hose, and another fitting, female thread, and use them as a bulkhead fitting, with a bit of silicon.
  15. must be live tank month! I just mounted one on my Bermuda. Tt is a bought tank, I mounted it on release brackets on the back step outside the transom, the rule 360 pump is bolted to the transom and connects to the tank through a garden hose fitting, so I can remove the tank if I don't need it, and I can also use the pump as a wash down. had to put a tap in the feed so I don't overflow the tank, and the drain and outlet run straight overboard. will put a piccy up tomorrow
  16. in the 70's my dad used to be a commercial fisherman, and ran his 20 hp evinrude 8 hours a day 6 days a week, it would last a year. then after advice, he changed from Valvoline to quicksilver, and the motor would last 2 1/2 years. so there is a lot to gain by using a good quality oil if you use your motor a lot. this was the 70's mind you, and standards have changed
  17. I believe the fish cleaning table deliberately has no top, as the weather can be quite harsh there and it would be wrecked. locals bring their own cutting boards and plop them on the frame. there is no running water for rinse, but as you are often ankle deep whilst cleaning it is not a problem, salt water should be used for cleaning fish anyway for best flavour. apparently planning approvals for a new fish cleaning table are frightening things to go through, so there is often something you can use as a table
  18. has anyone got a report on Gerringong boat ramp, I have passed it on occasions and it has all been quiet, is it a poor ramp or is it just out of the way? I am thinking of Easter, but all the nearby ramps will be hectic.
  19. Hey Juggs, I agree, Rex rules. lets start a campaign to get re-runs going
  20. mind you Huey, the kelvin hughes was good for about 3 km depth, but you could time the return ping with a stopwatch 3kw rms I think, transducer like a housebrick lol
  21. definitely a 4x4 ramp, it is very shallow slope so you need to get your wheels wet, and not good when the water is lumpy. Durras south is similar. much better than it used to be though. gets crowded at timed, there is a ramp at Bawley point but it is definatley 4x4 only but good parking
  22. thanks Huey, much as I thought. the last 'sounder' I worked on was in the 80's, a kelvin hughes ms44 paper job, things have come a long way.
