  1. It was a red scorpion, i just looked at the images on the net matches it perfect. Damm i wish i checked if they were good eating i did keep it but i promised my neighbour a feed i should of swaped them with the salmon it just looked to hard to clean.
  2. I was fishing around watsons reef near the national park as the wind was a little calmer in that area. It was very quiet in the arvo only 2 other boats i can see. I lost something i suspect a larger king or salmon as it took a massive run and many head shakes but i didnt get busted off just hook spat out. I saw some surface action and some jumping fish, could be bonito not sure. This is the first year in Botany Bay that i have not caught tailor, i remember the last couple years around sunset i used to catch so many good sized tailor, Im suspecting this strange weather or im just having bad luck.
  3. Went to Botany Bay today, The wind was very bad i knew from the forcast but had a day off so went anyway. Water Temp was between 21.5 and 23 degrees, used squid and chicken breast for bait but during the time fishing caught 2 x yakkas which was converted to 2 x salmon using them live. Also caught 1 good size travelly around 45cm and 2 x cod fish, 1 Red ugly one very large around 2 kg and the other one was brown and abit if limish colour, fist time i caught one it was nice looking around 1 kg. That was it for the day
  4. Im not too sure where exactly watts reef is but i wasnt fishing were the botany bay nationaly park side is, I was on the other side. I was around 100 meters away as the rule is i wish i could get closer as i saw some massive attack on something on the surface made huge splashes close to the wharf i believe there is huge ones under there but very high chance of a bust off.
  5. Arrived at Botany Bay at 3pm today, and fished for 3 and half hrs near the oil wharf. water tempature was 25 degrees and very dirty water, wind picked up alot as well armed with pillies, squid, plastics caught 7 kings which which were undersize around 60cm and lost which iam sure would of been legal as they were unstopable and got busted off eventually ran straight to the wharf, which is good news as long as they around cant complain. Also managed a salmon , 4 Travelly , which ended up being my dinner for my family.
  6. Ive been for years fishing Parra river and decided last couple of weeks to give georges river a try, went a couple of land based trips to Illawong near the old boat ramp using chicken breast as bait, using a 10 lb leader as some rocks around for bream on my first trip 2 weeks ago, I usually leave drag not to tight for the bream to have a run with the bait and my drag goes off i run to the rod and start reeling and tighten drag within around 10 seconds i got busted off. Went a couple of days later and try again with 15 lb leader threw in same place which is around 1-2 meters deep and with in seconds had a long run and drag screaming within same amount time the line around the hook gets cut so realised its a toothy critter so iam thinking ive never had this happen with me on a large bream so iam thinking its a tailor but the pulling power of this fish would of have to meant a very large tailor and wasent to sure if they were around that area in that size. I tried again and within 5 mins same thing happened again i was started to get frustrated and really know what it is. Went back yesterday with a heavier setup braid line and real heavy leader, I used burley and threw in the bait in around the same area which was only only 2 meters from the ledge away you wouldnt belive my rod buckles over and i just thought this fish really hard i knew its the same kind of fish giving me the trouble after around 1 minute not giving the fish any space to run off with locked drag i reef it in and to my suprise it was one of the largest eels i have caught it would of been around a meter in length very very thick i was disapointed to see it as was hoping something else, so after three trips at least i figured out what it was and iam sure there is many there hanging around after burley and are resident there. next half an hr on a floaty i caught some bream one of them had a large chunk taken off his back and was supprised he was still alive. Called it a day after.
