  1. Thats Some quality fish there, Nice bycatch.
  2. im in for it we will see more cooked catch styles as well.
  3. They were caught on manly side of the heads right near the opening not outside the heads. 2 only were caught small ones on pillchard cubes lightly weighted. but i have to say its actually the first time we catch them this year, we havent had much luck even in summer.
  4. Thanks Guys 2+ for Jinkai ill be giving it a go
  5. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on leaders i can use over 40lb. I mainly use fluro but never used over 40lb as its just too stiff Should i go to mono over 40lb as a leader or is there a brand out there that stays soft and keeps straight.
  6. I suspect legal kings only because 3 rods buckled over same time, it was fighting like a king. Defintley will keep everyone updated on bellambi, I had some luck last year went 4 trips, 1 trip filled the esky with large snapper/Trevs/kings but then after that 3 trips very quiet. I had luck around the big bommie there. But heard the big snapper are caught around 8ks off the ramp somewhere.
  7. I just saw your report, so you had line leader issues as well, its the worst when you dont see what was hooked. I only ever use circle hooks so i keep the hook away from the teeth but sometimes just rubbing on there gills is enough to fray the line as soon as you tighten the drag. It was fun on plastics i will be definetley give them further testing if my squid supply is low.
  8. Thats good to hear, thank god we dont want more land based spots closed there limited already.
  9. I heard somewhere on Fish raider that it was being close due to people falling in the gaps and the botany secuirty keep calling the ambulance so they are putting a stop to it.
  10. Haven't been out in weeks, with the bad weather and extra work got my chance yesterday and decided to give Sydney heads another go. Weather looked nice, some wind at times and swells being manageable. Had my cousin come with me and advised him to put extra clothing as he was sitting in the front on the Bow rider and I am sitting in the back with my old man with the canopy protection as it’s too cold for me to sit direct in the wind in the front. He said I am fine not to worry about it, as soon as we reached the heads and started venturing out to a reef he started looking yellow and didn’t look to well, worried the trip would come to a end I decided to take the front seats directly in the wind and we turned back to the heads just on the opening. After anchoring the boat put some burley up we had limited supply of squid but main bait was pillies and soft plastics. We managed many rat kings some were so small the smallest being around 30cm and largest being 55cm I’ve never seen one that size before. They were caught on gulp worms and gulp minnow 5inch jigging the plastics on bottom. Surprised the Gulp worms performed well I was aiming for larger Trevaly with them. Also on the bait rod on squid got a double hook-up of salmon on bottom twin hook rig, I thought it was a large kingfish as my rod and reel were going ballistic with 2 fish on the same line, the larger salmon being 70cm. Ended with a mixed bag of travely/ bonito / snapper/ salmon caught from the heads. After 1pm the conditions were more preferable and my cousin looking better we decided to venture out only around 200 meters to the colours reef I think it’s called I got the GPS location from searching the net. After anchoring up again now it was my turn to feel bad hehehe, I had 2 rods in the front I rigged up my last squid to the bottom and within 10 mins I hooked something heavy no headshakes thinking it was no other than the annoying port Jackson shark which turned out to be exact, it was over 1 metre it managed to tangle other lines out in the water as well. Feeling more sick after the Jackson shark being pulled out of 50m bottom. having one more pre made rig I put it on and sent 1 soft plastic on 1 hook and pilly on the other down to the bottom, It got disappointing from here on my dad’s rod buckles over and after a small fight with a large fish his line goes loose and then it was on my cuzins rod buckles over and my rod does. My Cousin line goes loose as well after a fight. So with me last fighting a fish and after a good fight my 40lb Fluro I managed to get the fish off bottom and cheering I am so close to seeing it my leader busts off. My fault on my fish I should use heavier leader outside even with lesser bites. My dad was the culprit on the other 2 rods because he rigged them and first time using braid his knot tying was bad as what gave ground. After that I went to sleep I was freezing to death just wanted to go home and eat. My next trip would be to Bellambi as the sydney trip is just too long without rosebay boat ramp being open. Does anyone know if Rosebay boat ramp is open now?

  15. I was told last week when my local tackle store was ordering me a reel that was out of stock, Shimano australia notified him that prices are going up. I got it at the current price. But you can already see on online shop $350 dollar reels buy it now, are now around $380-400.

  17. Congrats on the Jewfish, it looks like this month is good for jewfish.
  18. Well done on that nice jewfish, you deserve it after all that effort. The California squid is definetley good i always take it with me as i dont always have enough fresh squid and it works real good.
  19. I think the white ones will do well
  20. Nice batch of squid, nice fish on the sounder i hate when there underneath and picky.
  21. Ive never seen so much bonito caught in one go nice catch You should be called Bonito King
  22. We baked the Teraglin yesterday they are top table fish to eat we were fishing from around 48-52 meters. The kings were big this year than average and im hoping the same at long reef and the other reefs around that area will hold above size snapper this year.
  23. You still got a feed dan thats the main thing, That water was amazing i wish we had that during the summer days we lost so many fishing days to the bad weather and now with the water temp dropping we get good water conditions its been like that every year i guess i used to work near port botany for 3 years so i always snuck out to check the water. IT will get quieter over time in the bay during the winter hits but i realised the best times are between 1pm and sunset. The only fishing i do in winter is try to get to offshore reefs if the swell/wind is real good.
  24. I learn something everytime i go fishing thanks for the update
  25. Headed out of Sydney heads today for an offshore trip. The day started off not as planned was supposed to be on the water from 12 midday until sunset. Left home at 12 and with all this traffic on a Saturday by the time got to Drummoyne boat ramp and out to the heads it was already 2pm. The swell couldnt be better than today it was better than inside the harbour. Got to a spot which we spotted fish on the sounder and the anchor wouldn’t hold so put further chain on the anchor and it sorted it out. As soon as we started fishing it went well, using squid mostly as bait we did not too bad and we had a school of jewfish go past because within 20 minutes we picked up 4 jewfish around the 70cm mark. I hooked something big straight after the last jewfish was caught and can tell this was big and would be a PB, I believe it to be definitely a large kingfish or Jewfish after a 10 minute battle with heavy tackle it was so close under the boat I did not see it and as usually happens we had 4 other rods out in the water and too excited to take them out, it wrapped around the lines and while trying to fight the fish and untangle the braid I got reefed on the bottom under the boat. I learned my lesson and always if a big fish is on get everyone to take the lines out if there close. OTher than that it was a good mixed species of fish caught. ITs going to be a good fishing this winter offshore and can’t wait till the big snappers arrive in the next couple of months.
