  1. Thanks Donna. That was my kids work placing the fish like that.
  2. We managed to catch a Bonnie, on an unweighted pillie tail when this was happening, so I assume it was bonnies chomping down on the garfish.
  3. I saw a video of Conner sparring a pro boxer not long ago. Conner got owned. Mayweather will destroy him unless Conner lands a lucky bomb.
  4. Hi everyone, My two sons and I fished Botany bay on Tuesday. We had prawns, pilchards and chicken breast for bait. We fished Yarra bay, Molli pt and the oil wharf. We managed a few fish from all locations. Yarra was best for Bream, Molli pt produced a 43cm Trev a 79cm Flattie, and I lost a good snapper to a hungry seal who played with my easily a keeper fish boat side. The oil wharf had Trevs, Tarwhine and Bonnies on offer along with a couple of keeper Flatties. There were also packs of garfish around as well. I caught several on a sabiki rig with little bits of prawn on the hooks. I live baited the garfish under a float. Each and everyone got bitten in half, but always just behind the hook. Changing the location of the hook made no difference, it would always be missed by millimetres. Here's some pics of the day. We had more than enough for a feed so released over 15 keepers mostly trevs and at least another 15-20 undersize fish, mostly bream and the ever present baby snapper.
  5. Looks like a nice feed was caught there. Nice. Cheers

  13. Great eating fish there, enjoy. Cheers
  14. Well done, a great feed and/or bait there. Cheers
  15. Nice work on the squid and King, Krispy. Don't you just hate it though when your squid that's intended for bigger fish, gets picked to pieces by smaller fish. Cheers
  16. Nice fish there, I'd be stoked to land one like that. Cheers
  17. Sure is. I have a couple of mates here in Syd from Hataitai.
  18. Thanks mate. Legal size for kings is 75cm over there.
  19. I grew up there as well. I used to fish the Petone wharf every second day almost as it was at the end of my street. We booked accommodation almost across the road from it so that my boys and I could fish from it, however it was fenced off due to earthquake damage that it suffered in December. Lots of buildings, movie theatres and a shopping centre were also fenced off due to earthquake damage.
  20. Not the species you were after but still great fun to catch. Cheers
  21. Hi everyone, Last week we were in NZ for week with my family visiting friends and doing a bit of sightseeing. My boys and I did manage to do two boat fishing trips in Wellington harbour when the weather allowed. I had an offshore trip booked also but it was cancelled due to bad weather. Everyone on board caught a heap of fish, mainly 60-70cm Kings(undersize in NZ), Kahawai, Red Gurnards, Blue cod, Snapper, and some other reef fish. I also caught an Elephant fish of 82cm that took quite a bit of line before I stopped him and brought him back to the boat. Here is a few pics. The view out over Wellington harbour wharves. You are allowed to fish on several of these wharves, some even have fishing platforms with bait cutting boards, running water and modern toilet facilities. A couple of harbour pics Some fish we caught. Some Red Gurnards There were plenty more of these caught by all. My Elephant fish caught on a mackeral fillet. We took some light gear with us across the ditch and a few squid jigs, all the locals told us the only squid around Wellington is offshore and that we would catch nothing. Well they were right we caught zip after several attempts. However we did find squid at one of the wharves, but try as we might they only came out and took a look at our jigs then swam back under the wharf. Spraying egimax didn't work, rubbing pilchard guts on the jigs didn't work either. Very frustrating to say the least. We also visited the Te Papa museum where we found several sea creatures including this 4mtr Colossal squid. I would hate to get caught in the water by this thing. A few more pics of the sea creatures on display. Thanks for viewing.
