  1. great to catch up and meet the scratchie crew! Spewing about the fish mate, they were on fire a few weeks back hope the rest of your holiday is magic mate, a pleasure to meet you! I'll bring the beers next time!
  2. Hi Guys, Here is a pic of a cod i caught, flicking ecogear grass minnows for bream. This cod smashed the lure and when i netted him and let him settle down, a crab casually walked out of his mouth! these fish are so greedy, everytime i bring one in, its spitting some type of meal out. This crab owes me big time! Stan
  3. sounds like you've got a good patch of water there mate, well done!
  4. hey guys, Do you use those tackle boxes that have small holes for air/water to come in/out? ive been thinking about getting a few so i can just hose my tackle box down. Im all about that lazy life. Cheers
  5. hey mate, As PomPom said, those rigs worl really well with boilies or dog/cat food. In Lake parramatta however, the carp follow the ducks. so wherever the ducks are, they will be carp - just be careful not to hook a duck! Most of my success came from just burleying with bread then pitching a bread fly at them. Also, the hotter the weather, the harder they fight! Use light leader, small hooks - i use mosquito hooks, let them take the bait on loose drag then tighten, burley a spot for a few days. Cheers
  6. Hi Donna, I tried to post some pics up on the FB page but posting pictures isn't an option? here's some more from the weekend. the first is a stargazer, i got the pic right before he completely submerged himself. As for the second pic, can anyone ID the fish? the teeth were stuff of nightmares.
  7. i didnt knot you guys were on facebook Donna, i will be flooding the page with pics now LOL
  8. Thanks Guys, Fishing out of a Hobie PA12. Scratchie, iv'e sent you a PM Most fish are being taken on plastics right now, mainly berkley minnows. Cheers
  9. Hi Raiders, Not sure if i already put these pics up, just a few catches from August so far. Winter has been producing some amazingly calm days, with heaps of water visibility. I have been focusing on flathead, bigger bream on big lures and tailor off the stones. No beans on the tailor so far, but a lot of Pike and the bream/flatties have been playing ball too. Most of the lures i have been using are plastics (berkley minnows), jackson vibes, ghillies baitfish, rapala x-wrap (the ones you can cast), samaki vibalicious and atomic hardz. Enjoy the pics guys!
  10. Geez! Scratchie that's a monster!! those fish make the 5 inch look like a 2.5 inch haha great to see you got into a few! Cheers, Stan
  11. Thanks Wellzy, you must add it to your bucket list. I was originally thinking of bringing my own gear but so happy i didnt. I spent 2 days camping in the jungle with elephants etc. So it would have been a nightmare. I got heaps of Thailand pics for anyone whos interested. Neil, great to hear from you. Have the cod come back on or still no beans? I have to get down there and tick a cod off the bucket list...ill bring the beers? Scratchie, i must admit i was pretty nervous especially after that "ball cutter" episode of river monsters! Looking forward to port stephens jewy reports mate! Thanks ARC, i must admit i do miss the surface bite of summer Thanks Regan, yes the second picis the pacu. They are a very muscular and hard fighting fish. I forgot the pliers so was very nervous dehooking the fish, especially after the one before bit through a sokid hook!
  12. Hi Raiders, Been a while since my last confession, work has been crazy so it was great to get away overseas for a few weeks. I took almost a month off, spent 3 weeks exploring Thailand and fished the last week at home. Thailand: When I was over there, I had booked a few days at Gillham's, which is a fishing resort. Basically, the lake is stocked with all the usual suspects from River Monsters (unfortunately Jeremy Wade was not there!) along with some monster Asian Carp species. If you are in anyway connected to the UK or their Carp fishing scene, chances are you have heard of this place. Whilst I was over there, I caught a couple of monster Julian's Carp and Pacu. The teeth on those Pacu are horrific, they are almost human like and they also have a beak a bit like a leather jacket. I had one bite the hook completely in half. I had my heart set on an Aripaima but no beans. I almost dropped a 140lber Siamese Carp at the net. If you want any idea of how hard these fish pull, I was fishing almost locked drag on 80lb and these things were still pulling string with fight times ranging from 20 minutes to 2 hours. Home: Within the space of a week, fishing had changed dramatically which I anticipate aligned with the arrival of cooler water. I had started the week off pink grubbing and sugapenning the canals and ended the week fishing deep pockets with blades, plastics and cranka crabs. As it stands, bream are holding tight and deep and responding really well to ecogear zx30's z-mann 2.5 inch swimz in watermelon (fished on HWS jigheads), ecogear grass minnows (texas rigged) and cranka crabs in brown, ecogear sx40 in olive. By-catch has been small Mangrove Jacks, flathead and the odd moses perch. Impoundment Bass are also holding tight around bait (I think they are baby bony bream?) and are being taken on blades, tail spinners (megabass, sebile), RMG crazy deeps, and el cheapo flicker shads in the 70 range. Bream gear: Shimano Raider, Shimano sustain 1000, 4lb braid/leader Bass Gear: Shimano Raider Bass, Daiwa Alphas 103, 10lb Samaki braid/10LB Asari Hope everyone is well, enjoy the pics, Stan
  13. well done mate! i got dusted by one two nights ago fishing a z-man minnow/fish style plastic. we got heaps coming up in the canals at the moment
  14. thanks Neil! WOW Jon D those pics and drawings are incredible! is that first drawing of a rabbit fish? I had a foxface in my marine tank a while ago looks a little bit like that in the face
  15. thought id share some more, the camera loves you baby!
  16. Hi Guys, Has anyone fished Wivenho land based? looking for some ideal locations from the land to chase bass, when not fishing from the kayak. Cheers
  17. Hi Scratchie, i didnt have a centre cab but used to own a formosa 5.20 centre console. I can speak for their build quality and ruggedness. they are a great boat, the challenges i had with mine was making sure electronics were salt free, but thats always a challenge in an open centre console. I used to take mine well off shore and as said before, they are great in a following sea. Deep sides and grab rails all round made mine safe in a swell too. Congrats mate, i my self have been looking at a new boat to assualt the gold coast canals with. been looking at the bluefin 4.30 drifter tournament pro
  18. Thanks Grant, Yeah, i was fishing the south wall at the very tip. casting both into the seaway, and on the side onto the beach (oppose the sand pumping jetty). I know the jew spot your talking about but its been pretty packed out with boats and cant get there land based. we sounded up some big fish there on the boat once but conditions were not safe enough to anchor. went out last night thought to the 24's and caught a 10kg mack tuna float lining a pillie. Cheers
  19. Hi Guys, Hit the gold coast sea way, southern wall in search of tailor and jewies last night. Was using two set ups: For tailor, was using a pillie on gangies under a float, and for Jewies; i was slow rolling big hard bodies in the wash. No luck on the jewies (what else is new) but i did manage a tailor on the first cast, quite literally as soon as the bait hit the water. I thought i was going to be in for an epic session but after that first fish it went quiet. Guys, has anyone fished the sand pumping jetty? i heard it can get as packed as clifton gardens but has the odd big fish come through.... Cheers, Stan
  20. nice work Krause! do you live up here mate? cheers
  21. great report mate. really good to see all the old spots still firing. i never thought about targeting bream on those soft vibe good to see they work.
