  1. Brad that looks fantastic, i love fishin off the rocks. what fish have u got there in the past? and what busts u off?
  2. Depending on what time ur there..... and what time im working.....I'll be there!
  3. WHAT have i done? i've started carp mania ........... lol i actually considered taking my little neighbour out for carp but the weather was too Ditto for me
  4. i'd love to see a fishraider CARP social but yeah anyone thats willing to ever go PM me and im good to have another crack thanks coolamon, im sure you can give me some pointers so i am sure to dispose of more of these pests, hope we can all catch up for some fun! Yeah Plumpton Park... the best access is Wren Tce which is off Sanctuary Dr i think. I am sure Nurragingy has many a carp too though its much too populated for me to try.
  5. Bertrand, I fished the RNP last year and we couldnt really find a good ledge that wasnt snag prone. Maybe we could organise a trip sometime, i love bashing off the rocks and targetting those species on light gear, you seem like u know what ur doing and i could always use the education. Cheers mate Ian
  6. Im not sure exactly, im sure the fresh water rivers might be a try. Otherwise there are plentiful man made lakes all throughout. I updated my profile becoz sydney was obviously a very vague place to say where im from The place i went to was called Plumpton Park which is a nature reserve in surburbia. I did kinda feel a bit silly rocking up with a fishing rod ! all the best on those carp, its a good way to kill an hour or 2 cheers Ian 95% of my fishing is off the rocks, thats why this weekend was a no goer.( the forecast gets worse by day) i wouldnt mind trying off the beach but i only use light gear so i could probably spit further than a cast but i will try it one day.... looks like a quiet weekend with the is on the cards, might take her out to see shrek 3
  7. having not been out for a while and under stress with my practical work experience in a high school i was really looking forward to this long weekend, as i had a really bad fishing bug... u know that sort that drives you crazy and you cant function without thinking of fishing and the only cure of course is to go fishing. well having seen the weather outlook for the weekend yesterday ( not promising) i had given up hope. until i heard some pitter patter on my roof early this morning you see today was meant to be a school athletics carnival, being a teacher it was my duty to help run it, but with rain gods on display it was cancelled. Even better news at 9:30am my supervisor says to go home as their was nothing for me to do. so im sitting at home reading all these fantastic reports wishing i was fishing, when i stumble across some real oldies, one in particular about a local park with a lake/pond full of carp, to me it was now or never so armed with about 4 layers of clothes, some hastily made dough and a few slices of bread i whipped away 10 mins down the road and began a new experience. I burleyed up with some bread which stirred up a feeding frenzy.... of ducks and geese! after some smart diversion work i lured the feathered brigade away and began fishing in peace. All was quiet and i was feeling much better, then out of nowhere BANG!!!!!!! my dough bait was smashed and a few seconds later their is a serial pest bought to the surface, it wasnt big but still put up a fairly good show, however in my attempt to cut it off for the bushes the sucker spat the hook and shot off. Over the next hour this continued with many hooked but only a few actually ended up where they belonged , out of the water. Eventually my bait supply was exhausted and i went home a semi-happy man took some action shots for giggles, spared any shots of the carp which to me dont warrant a picture. the white goose did a good job of honking away any other unwanted company. cheers IAN PS sorry for the long and sad report, but i was really bored!
  8. the jury is in then...... good thing i chucked it back in the drink! there were a few carcasses around where i was today, maybe whoever was there b4 me got sick of em! there were a few other interesting ones there too though.... im guessing whoever caught them a) really had to leave in a hurry or is an ignorant moron who doesnt deserve to fish deadset there was at least 6 ( 3 different species- no pesky rock fish either and i could of sworn one was a just legal tailor)
  9. caught it today on a pilly tail but am stumped for what it was, im guessin its in the bream family.....
  10. As an 80's baby i still grew up with the majority of all those things, and childhood was the best ever! it hasnt been till the late 90's that things have changed, and i pity my children, nephews, nieces and grandchildren who probably wont experience the fun we had...... oh a question i would like to ask these new kids of the generation ( it really bugs me) WHAT IS SO GOOD ABOUT A SHOPPING CENTRE THAT WARRANTS YOU TO HANG OUT THERE ( and not spend any money!) ????
  11. Swell not usually a problem unless its a peak high tide, spot has little protection from any wind pushing up from the tasman.... i assume a northerly heads in that direction towards qld..... anwyaytime will tell!
  12. I have no doubt they are there, are there any LB guys picking up on the kings? or is the luck solely to those in a boat?
  13. that trevally is a monster and that bream is healthy too! ( did u measure them?) i love the SC it is a fishing paradise! whereabouts were u fishing , i am down in those parts on a regular basis
  14. Hey guys i am considering a rock fishing trip on friday , however the forecast is for 15/20 knot winds in a N/NE direction. As the platform i am fishing faces SE what does this mean for me??? Will it be too windy or should i risk it?
  15. 200 kings in a month....... and im still a virgin! there is a major balance problem here.... help......please........
  16. Gday mate, I hit the rocks on a regular basis, however not in sydney. for some reason i enjoy travelling to go fishing. I usually fish in the wollongong/kiama region and rarely am disappointed... I usually target salmon and tailor on the light gear, heaps of fun. But with the light gear i am exposed to some bream, whiting, trevally and co if they are around. Weather permitting i am going on friday, the weather itself looks good enough however the wind and swell are the problem areas ( the wind is supposed to be a bit strong on friday 15/20 knots) but the swell doesnt look to be a problem... I wont know for sure until the BOM put out another forecast tomorrow, then i will check last minute on friday morning b4 i go.. If u are interested PM me for more details cheers Ian
  17. GREAT EFFORT mate! Is it just me but have those 2 thumper bream/trevally? ( in the middle and at the bottom in the pic) slipped under the radar.....?? check the size of the em!!!!!!!!!!!!!! must be some good nutrients in the water down there!
  18. I dont think its in Australia, the people there just dont have the aussie glint in their eyes.. besides the foreground looks foreign I'll say US or Europe
  19. I agree Salmon a pest ???? They are one of the few things that will get me out of bed before 6am! stick it to those pollies, most of whom which i am certain have never fished before.... let alone fought an australian salmon on light gear, its a buzz one cannot explain... Yes fishing creates food for people, but unlike most people i fish for sport, like alot of you guys here... why punish us becoz they apparently dont taste good?
  20. Working behind the bar pulling beers and mixing it with the best tomorrow night sat/sun is a cricket semi final , hopefully it will be over by saturday although even though we were minor premiers by 20+ points im not taking anything for granted! my semi final record in cricket since starting as a junior is WOEFUL the figures speak for themselves ..... 0 wins 7 losses. Other than that i have taken the rest of the weekend nights off work to celebrate/commiserate so hopefully i can spend some time with the and also spend time with my brother and his who i found out yesterday are expecting twins in september
  21. I will definately agree with that Stewy! Maybe we can clone a few Sean and Claudia's and post them around the fishraider vacinity ?
  22. Hit my usual spot, got there a little later than planned after a mishap out of my control... anyway we got there bout 10 and got straight in... hooking up straight away to 3 rock fish... all went quiet and it looked a bad day indeed, not the baptism i had intended for my new combo bought yesterday off sean at watto's, i'll go off track mid report just to say what a fantastic bloke this guy is, he really gave me his attention and time , was honest and looked after me big time in the end, its outstanding customer service like that, that will keep me going back ... thanks again sean and watto's back to the fishing, it went quiet so we decided to walk around the rocks to see what was on the other side, was some good fishing spots on low tide but the swell was a bit nasty and safety first in mind we headed back to our normal spot, it was here i decided to have a go flicking some SP's... i bought a pack of the berkley gulp 4" power minnows yesterday and thought why not.... being a virgin to SP's (other than a short flick in the bay once) i didnt expect much at all..... first cast without fail beginners luck strikes and so does a massive salmon, i seen at least 4 of them follow the lure falling over themselves before right in front of me BANG!!!!! the fight was on but unfortunately my 6lb line that sean had spooled me up with wasnt enough and i was smoked..... boy was i but also the adrenalin was a new rush for me. I tried putting another one together but my end result looked nothing like the one done for me by the bloke at st marys tackle..... alas no more fish and the result was an angry man who was wishing he had bothered to watch how to thread the jig head through the body.... back to old pillies and prawns and it went quiet again.... with 1/4 block left of pillies we decided to cut our losses and call it a day....we tossed the remaining pillies into the rockpool and sent out our last pillies.... having wisened up and adding a 15lb leader to my outfit earlier paid off in the end when on the last cast i felt a solid bite and then saw my line going sideways , this was new for me so not knowing what it was i struck and heard that sweet ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ moments later a sambo gave a leap and it was pandemonium.... my mate grabbed the camera and got some good action shots (displayed) b4 we landed him, unfortunately we got a bad photo of him on the ledge( also displayed) and then the camera died anyway to cut a long story we salvaged the pillies left for dead from the rockpool and proceeded to have about 45mins of madness with the salmon, dropping a few and landing several more.... the biggest of the day went 62cm , but as stated the camera died so no photos of the catch.. all were released as we dont eat salmon the new carbotec rod from watto's handled the fish superbly, letting the fish give an incredible account of themselves whilst being strong enough to stay in control. All in all a great day at watto's yesterday was converted into a great day today thanks again sean
  23. Just looked at the weather and it gets the final thumbs up for a trip tomorrow, possibly my last go at bombo for a while as it has been quiet of late, snared my PB salmon there the first time i went and have had a few hookups without any luck since, dropped plenty of bigguns too. going with new tactics adding some prawns and maybe some SP's to the fray , will b visiting watto's in hope of a new combo and maybe some SP's etc in about half hour... stay tuned for the report tomorrow and if anyone is keen to tag along, by all means join the fun. Will be arriving at site about 7:30am and fishing til about 2pm PM me for more details
  24. Just a thought.. i've been reading recently alot of pelagics have been found stuffed full of whitebait and frogmouth pillies... Is whitebait a worthwhile bait to try, or would it need to be alive to hold any hope?
  25. weather permitting i might be down there tuesday mate will let u know later on if it'll happen or not
