  1. Im heading up to Brissie in the next month or so if you are keen to catch up for a fish.........
  2. Plumpton park is located on Hyatts Rd , Plumpton just down the road from the Marketplace. I am local to the area, didnt know there were fish in the lake so thats pretty awesome. Not planning on trying it but just in case How do u catch the buggers? ie bait, hook size etc?
  3. Davy, Im definately willing to try Clifton Gardens. Is it easily accessible by road? And for a mid week option does it get crowded ? great report mate!
  4. Well done mate, good on ya not only for taking the young tackler out but for being a good sport as well. Lol when i take my g/f fishing i do everything for her and she catches all the fish, yet i couldnt catch a cold if i tried! I may be a young fella but i genuinely cant wait to have some rugrats and take them fishing! Cheers , Ian
  5. Pretty much mate, we were off a ledge about 30m out from shore ( it was tucked away in the corner of the beach) and i was fishing over the sand in about 2-3m of water, probably could of landed the casts in same spot from the beach, thats if i could cast better LOL, a seasoned beach-o prolly would of had no problem though! im 90% certain this spot was in the RNP
  6. Yes i believe we did geography together with that "butter face" teacher and learnt all about overfishing and water pollution hahahahaha lets catch up for a fish! I think im in the right hands mate, looking at adding a few " new species" to my list ! Mate there is only one other person hoping you catch a king as much as you do and that is ME! i have faith you will rise for the occassion and silence the critics ( or should i say critic - chris-)
  7. Got a call yesterday arvy off a good mate of mine with the invite of joining up with him and his brother for a late arvo/evening session at his brothers secret location.... after initial baulking i eventually agreed with the solemn promise off his bro that i wouldnt regret it. After a erratic drive ( which i believe was a deliberate attempt to disorientate me ) we parked and set sail. The walk in was a slight pain but we got to SPOT X to be greeted by reasonably calm conditions. After my last outings effort i was not very confident, but as if the gods were shining on me my 1st cast was met half a minute later by a solid and soon a nice 40cm bream was flapping around. Within the next 30 mins i had landed another 2 bream going 34cm and 37cm. I decided a change of tactics was on the cards so i floated out a lightly weighted whole pillie sprayed with some ultrabite spray, as it lay in waiting i started to rig up a rod to throw some metals out. Just as i was about to cast out the metal ZZZZZZZZZZZ line starts peeling off my light raider stick, quicker than you could say YOU'VE GOT ONE i had the rod in hands and was fighting a very solid fish. I had no idea what was on the end but the fish was pretty keen not to let me find out, all sorts of calls were being made for it , even the hallowed " K- word" but eventually as the fish started losing his battle he showed his face with a trademark leap and a few pump and winds later Mr Salmon was landed and measured at 64cm ! MY PB! For some unknown reason my mates brother loves eating salmon so we kept it for him. Fighting temptation to throw another pillie out i settled back to my metal rod and after a few casts was met with a strike and a undersize tailor, gradually hooked into a school and another 9 were landed ranging from 30-40cm. As it was near dark i decided to go back to bait for a final shindig..... and my efforts were rewarded with a few bust offs from the choppers(bastards!) i whacked on a 30lb leader and a ganged pillie as my last resort while the others cleaned their catch, was met soon after with an absolute wolfing and a wonderful 5 minute battle before a nice 46cm chunky tailor came to shore and was released the final numbers between the 3 of us were : 7 bream, 1 salmon, 20-something tailor and 3 trevs being the conservative type we only kept 5 bream, the salmon , 4 tailor and a trev. Even tho most were easily legal..... no point taking more than u need NOW- if i can only get the spots location proper to tee up for fellow raiders... all i know is it was down south and the drive was about 1hr 10 mins .... will try get more info ALL in all a top day and a great warm up and appetiser for this weekends SOCIAL see u guys there IAN
  8. Thanks again guys, very helpful ! I couldnt catch a squid to save my life but i will pop in the fish markets and buy some fresh... cheers fella's all the best, happy fishing Ian
  9. Cheers Fella's ! Some very valuable tips there, fingers crossed i can get out there soon. As always i am very wary of fishing other peoples turf, there is nothing worse than showing lack of respect and treating it like a dump, i can assure you that i always leave the place like i found it and if that means carting other grubs rubbish too then so be it.... Im thinking of going with some metals for spinning , and also baitfishing with pillies and FRESH squid. Is Squid a viable option there or would i be wasting my time ? Thanks guys, Ian ( who loves the c.coast!)
  10. anyone know anything ? apart from " people die there" thanks chris (CFD) the last time i heard that about a spot it was so awesome i went back again again and again its now my # 1 place to be ( Bed is a close # 2) . Anything will b helpful Cheers Ian
  11. I work at penrith and yes there are a few germs around like all areas these days i suppose....... its still a top area though. I do some fishing along that stretch every now and then, its not to bad on its day. Oh and the Log Cabin is a great place to go after for a good feed as well as a coldie Might catch u down there sometime

    Army Joke

deservedly got a good laugh might have to use that if i remember
  13. As much as it hurts my blue blooded heart to say this i think the Cowboys are a great chance of taking the title this year, the way they disposed of the bronx was incredible. Way too early to jump to early conclusions but.... wasnt it sweet to see the dragons and eels beaten again!!!!!!!!! my gut instinct tells me a heavyweight will win this year, not the year for the underdog... with the exception of that fantastic bloke " kingvirgin" bagging his first king!
  14. Awesome effort mate! What did u get the kingies on ??? Cheers, Ian
  15. Gday Raiders, After reading some nice reports on Avoca im super keen to give it a shot generally i head south for my rockhopping but a northern exposure could just be my ticket for my first KING! If anyone has any good information in regards to tried and tested platforms/ledges , best baits, rigs and whats up for grabs in the area, i've heard through a few sources its a bonanza for salmon, tuna and the odd kingy....... any help in this area would be greatly appreciated! Cheers lads, happy fishing! Ian
  16. Chris, Excellent work those previous discussions have all helped me and when i do go out next i'll be armed to the T with some of those remedies. Love your work on here brother, hope we can catch up 4 a fish in the near future Cheers
  17. Gday Folks, An interesting question for me...... DOES ANYONE KNOW/USE ANY PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID SEASICKNESS or TO MAKE IT MORE BEARABLE? my last time out in a boat was horrible, although i was very sleep deprived and had a gutful of milk at the boat ramp.... looking forward to hearing your views....
  18. After initially planning to hit Currarong last week which fell through, a new trip was organised with fishraider " Loomy Lover" to hit some well known LBG spots at Shellharbour. After a late finish at work i was asleep at 1am only to rise at the gracious hour of 3am. 1st problem of the day : i snapped the tip off my main rod whilst packing the car The plan was to detour out to Concord to pick up my mate and make our way down from there. So upon arriving at his house at the arranged pick up time came.... Problem # 2 : the g/f fails to set the alarm bit fishy i think..... and the fact his mobile was switched off! So after hanging around a bit i decided to go solo since i was up and everything was in readiness! Was heading to the "Battleships" as recommended by one of the good fishraiders. Found the location with much ease and arrived on site at 6am, however in my excitement to get fishing i PROB # 3 : have pulled up short and after an hour of walking around trying to find the platform i realise it is around the next headland! so after wasting 1 1/2 hours trying to get to the ledge and fishing the wrong area i eventually get back to the car and drive further up the headland and find the spot! It must be said it looked a paradise, although i was beaten to the spot by another who had already landed some nice salmon, tailor and the biggest bream i have ever seen!!!!!!!! PROB # 4 soon arose when the swell kicked up with the southerly that had pushed through and after 25 mins of bad fishing ( about 3 snags!) and a Near Death Experience i gave up and decided to look for a more sheltered area. For some reason unknown i ended up at Bass Point about 10.30am to be greeted by hordes of fisho's... some were leaving after some success spinning for frigates After setting up camp there i was confident of a hook up even though i was down to only pillies and squid I managed to keep my bait in the water with no wave problems or wind but to no avail, PROB # 5 the BLOODY seagulls attacked my squid when i turned my back The pillies by then had gone all soft and squishy too The other guys around me were having much more luck with some nice Bonito, Tuna and a King landed whilst floating out under a balloon, not sure wat baitfish coz it sure wasnt alive!!! To add insult to my lack of bites i got fried quite nicely too ! Ah well , SUCH IS LIFE ! ( a bad days fishing is always better than a good day @ work)
  19. Not really, i tried one once off the rocks near Kiama, filletted , hoping to tempt a snapper or king but ALAS it ended up going to the seagulls!
  20. Unlucky Mate ! still i bet it was quality Dad/Son time! and theres nothing wrong with good salt and pepper squid! better luck next time! The APPRENTICE
  21. Nice Salmon Mate, Glad you were able to identify it too in the fight! I go rockhopping and i've only ever landed salmon and tailor, 2 very hard but different fights. Cant wait til im experienced enough to be able to judge the difference in fight between a king, cobe etc... Good story though, unlucky bout the " Murphy"
  22. Great days work mate , I'll drink to those beauties!
  23. bet u were giving these ones for a week afterwards! TOP FISH MATE, well done!
  24. The good ole FREIGHT EXPRESS Best u can do is try remember the feeling and look back with a smile Also i've always believed that a fisherman shouldnt be judged by the size of his fish but whether or not he learns from his past mistakes , coz i've learnt that when u learn from your losses ( believe me i've had more than a few) it makes victory ( a prize fish) all the sweeter ! Keep up the good work! THE APPRENTICE
